Cap1 Cash Back Rewards Card Was Declined!!!!

I called the backdoor number to check the status of the application and it was denied. They weren't able to give me the reason of the denied. I asked to recon and I need to wait for the letter. Then I called the retention dept and they were able to upgrade my current No Hassle Rewards Platinum Mastercard to Cap1 Cash Rewards Visa (?). I also asked for CLI and it was denied (it was SP). Oh well, it was a good try.

I was just denied the Venture a couple of weeks ago never got a reason why as they said they sent two letters out. I said screw it and wrote a recon letter tonight to the EO. Hopefully it will give me some good results.

Thanks for all your replies. I expected I would get denied. It will give me bogus denial reason such as too much avilable credit and too many credit cards etc. I don't think I will be able to get other Cap 1 prime card. I was able to get an upgrade for my current Cap1. That was a surprise. I shouldn't have applied for the Cash Rewards Card.

Very sorry to hear of your denial, but I'm really glad they were able to upgrade your existing card after all. I just received my new (upgraded) Cash Rewards Visa Signature last week. You definitely should be able to get a CLI through the Exec Office. Good luck and congrats on the upgrade!

That's ok. I think I will need to email EO for CLI. I haven't gotten any CLI for over 6 years.

I just checked online and the Cash Rewards MC is already showing. I guess they didn't change the card type. Now it refelects the Cash Back instead of points.
