Changes to Amex Charge Cards???

Hey,

Can someone click this link and see if they see what I see?

I see that PRG is going away and instead there are 3 levels of Gold card, 2 levels of green card and 5 levels of platinum card.

Am I seeing this right?

Interesting how did you get to that link. From the homepage when I click on 'cards' 'see all cards' I am seeing the current lineup.

I think that link shows all the old cards that used to be available. My grandfather has a green card and I know for a fact his annual fee is grandfathered in at like $60 or so if I remember correctly.

Interesting to note that they actually acknowledge the Business Centurian Card, first time I have ever seen them acknoledge the centurian card on their website

I got to that link by clicking on See Cardmember Agreements.. and it took me to that page.. I was hoping to look at the disclosure for the PRG, but instead I found this...

It was really weird, I hope that they aren't going to this structure.. Hopefully its just old cards.

The Senior Member Green is still offered. I just got one in January.

I PC'd from PRG to the SMG to save on the AF. AF for my SMG is $35/year. Its the exact same as the current Green except it earns no rewards.

I'm seeing the centurion ( both the consumer and business versions) in the list. There's a link to view the card member agreement for it too. Nothing about the rewards program though, unfortunately.

Thats alot of different cards.

I guess they are making it specific to certain companies they do alot of business with to gain more customers.

Im not sure if it means like aarp senior, or someone who has been an amex member for a long time.

I don't know either. But I got the SMG when I asked to PC to a cheaper AF card.

I'm neither a senior citizen (I'm 23 ) or been a LONG amex customer (Got my first amex in 2010).

I just asked if there was a cheaper AF card I could PC to and I causally mentioned Zync (already knowing it was discontinued, but it never hurts to ask) and the rep offered SMG saying the AF was only $10 more than Zync.

$35 with no rewards is a little high, but its worth it to keep an amex charge active. And the rep said I can add the standard MRE that Green gets for an extra $40 if I want in the future.
