The Old Switch-a-Roo!

How many of you have applied for a CC and been declined but the CCC sends a different card that you qualified for without asking if you want it.

Ex: I apply for the AMEX Platinum and am declined but they send me the Green Card without asking me if I want it.

Just curious to see if this ever happens.

I am pretty sure I read in the application that they have the option of offering a lower card to you.

Call them up and ask what it can be converted/changed too?

You are correct, however, usually it will tell you at the time that you are declined for the card you applied for, however, you qualify for different card with different terms. I haven't heard of a card just arriving in the mail, but who know what will happen as things are changing so rapidly right before our eyes.

Yea. It should say in the fine print, if you are declined for the higher level card you may qualify for the lower card. I think that is better than a flat out denial. You get a card with out the extra inq to reapply. Then you can switch the card over to the one that you wanted in 3-6 months.

but it sucks when they card from another bank, Like I heard Discover was giving people discover branded cards from HSBC
