Discover Cash Over

Does anybody use this feature, where you can go to certain retailers and get cash back with your purchase. They don't charge any cash advance fees, but does it put you at more of a risk for a CLD or AA?

I tried it at Shaws supermarkets for $10. It showed online on my statement as cash advance.

I've done it a couple of times at Wal-mart and at Sam's Club. No CLD or AA. It doesn't show up as a cash advance and is treated as a purchase so no interest as long as you PIF each month.

My wife uses this feature on our card quite regularly. We don't carry much cash on us; she will stop at a Dollar General for a soda, and she gets 10 or 20 over to pay my daughter's lunch and for ice cream money. Never had any trouble nor have we heard anything from them.

Excellent feature.

it does NOT show up as a cash advance. It is considered a purchase, but it is a "purchase" that does not accrue rewards. and it DOES NOT CAUSE AA.

i use cash over a few times a month when i don't use my discover card for any purchases (to show activity). On my end there hasn't been any CLD or AA. I like having an atm at walmart that only lets me withdrawal $60 a day i believe.

it is a 100 a day at any participating store including walmart. it is the walmart only cards that you can make a cashover for only 60 at ONLY walmart. ANY discover network card, including walmart discover have the same cash over benefits as any discover more or discover it.

its been awhile since i did a cashover, perhaps walmart has limited its cashover.

I have to agree with the other posters. Shows up as cash over for me. I have done it twice ( hate doubling back to an ATM after going grocery shopping). So far, no problems v

Ditto. In my experience, it's $100 max per day on my Walmart Discover card, and $60 max per day on my Discover it card for Cash Over at Walmart. I wish I could do Discover Cash Over at more stores.

I've never made use of this feature mainly because I thought they would frown on it. WM got my cash pulls. Guess i'll have to consider it now!

I use this all the time. Matter of fact, I no longer carry an ATM card. When I need cash, I just go into a store, buy a bottle of water and request whatever cash I need.

PS - Not considered cash advance, no extra interest, and no AA. Just don't get cashback rewards. For the past couple of years, I've routinely bought a pack of mints for 0.50 cents with $60 or $80 cashback every single time. Better than an ATM card, since I don't need a pin and my cash is always dispersed in a highly public and crowded environment.

Ive used it a couple times. Makes it easier than going to the atm.
I was at an adult store one time using my Wmt Discover, and it even asked me if I wanted "cash over" with that...even though that isn't a true Discover...thought that was weird lol

I also read somewhere that Amex is going to start offering "Express Cash" which is s'thing like Cashover.

all discover network cards offer this feature. it does not need to be a walmart discover or DFS card. i am perplexed why walmart does not allow the full 100 cashover for DFS it cards.

There is a $120 24-hour limit, which starts when you first receive the cash.
Note: Most merchants also have their own Cash at Checkout limit. Check with the merchant to see what their daily and monthly limits are.
