HSBC reports the last business day of the month -- in order to control util you make a payment when due (do this about 3 business days ahead of time - they lag in posting and you don't want to be late), then go back in about 4 business days befor ethe end of the montha and tweak util to be posted

You can only make 2 payments per statemen cycle from their site (pulling from your account) - but can "push" to them from your bank's billpay as much as you want.

They are NOT my favorite card along with BBMC (managed by them) for the above reasons - # of payments allowed and reporting cycle.

Do they have a standard due date as well or is it different for each card?

My plan is to set up alerts in Outlook as well just so I can check manually to make sure things are being done as they should.

I get email alerts (set them up if necessary) for 'payment due', 'payment posted', credit posted' etc...I think these were automatic with HSBC after setting up the online payment info (I had to turn them on with Citi)...I made a folder in Outlook with sub-folders for each card and SAVE the emails from anything done online).

Message Edited by Lady_Scarlet on 03-08-2008 10:33 AM

Mine is the 15th for HSBC and BBMC -- but I opened them the same day. I don't recall their date flipping around all over the calendar. I also have electronic statements - so as soon as the statment is available, I set up the min payment to post before the due date and just edit it as needed...

Thanks! Feels good. I really think between the new cards (paying perfectly), the dropped of disputes (more to come potentially), the Amex AU, and the dropped of Lien that in the next 6-12 months my scores should zoom. Started in 500s, currently about 660 on all. Hoping with the additions, perfect payments, drop-off, rebuckets I can be at 720 or so by end of year.

I have three cards through HSBC. Orchard has it's own website and for the other two, I use www.accountcentralonline.com. I have not had any problems paying my bills at all. To make sure there would be no lag between payment submitted and payment applied, I opened an HSBC online checking and savings account. I now make all of my credit card payments through the checking account. I know when I set up the acountcentral accounts, I was asked to select what type of notifications I wanted. If your account uses this interface, then you should be able to indicate how far in advance you want to be notified before payment is due as well as if you want any notifications when your balance reach a certain level or a purchase is over a certain amount.

I cannot say. I have never used the hsbccreditcard.com site. My cards directed me to the accouncentral site. Because I had read here that some people had problems with payments not being processed on time, I figured that having the money coming from an HSBC account would cut down my chances of having the same problem. I got the savings account because the interest rate was nearly 4% at the time. Both accounts were free, so I just set them up and transferred money into them. I check my accounts a couple of times a day and as soon as I see that a bill has been generated, I submit my payment. I also check cc and checking accounts for the next few days to make sure it has been processed. I get notifications every step of the way. If ever I do not, and it takes more than 3 business days for the money to either come out of my checking account or to be applied to the cc, I would call cust. service. So far, I have been fortunate to have not had any payment problems with the HSBC or Orchard card.

Message Edited by RecoveringMyLife on 03-10-2008 07:13 PM
