CITI FAIL.GARDEN FAIL..SUPER FAIL

Such a fail...

I was browsing the boards like usual earlier today, and someone mentioned the Citi SImplicity card for the balance transfer feature. I looked into it some more and thought it sounded like a good idea because of a recent pet surgery I am holding a $4000 balance (split between two cards).

I knew it wasnt smart! I have new accounts, a ridiculous amount of inquires, 4k balance reporting on my CR. I just knew it was dumb. The browser I was applying on even closed on me twice during the application. ALl signs pointed to do the right thing and close the page.

INSTANT DENIAL.

I tried calling a couple numbers on the "backdoor numbers" thread, and they wouldnt budge.

I fell out of the garden after less than three weeks in it. Failed on the recon. I am so mad at myself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so greatful to recon and be successful with Chase Bank a couple weeks ago, I dont know why I did this.

Heres to the next two years looking at another inquiry, and resetting my Garden clock. Im thikning I should stop reading the credit card forum for a while because it just makes it too tempting. I went to whogavemecredit dot com and a lot of the scores made me think I had a chance too.

my advice:

STAY IN THE GARDEN AND TRUST YOUR INSTINCT! and when your browser shuts you out of the application, trust that too!

Sorry about the rejection. I guess the lesson learned is to always trust your gut. I agree with you- this board can be tempting. Welcome back to the Garden.

Thank you....seriously going to garden and avoid reading success stories for a while. I fooled myself into thinking it was smart even though I knew it wasnt! Im going to plant a tree outside so I can watch it grow like my AAOA hah

not trying to tempt you to reapply or anything, but since you already got a hard inquiry, write in to Citi's EO.

Most of their recons or CLI appeals decisions seems to be in the EO's end.

Their recons department over the phone can't seem to do much except for identity verifications based upon what I have read.

Some people got denied, wrote in to EO, and eventually got approved. You can try your luck with that since you have already taken the hit.

I am tempted to apply Citi too with some other threads on this forums about their offers! But it seems that Citi pulls EX and I don't really want my EX file to have double digit inquiries.

I called the EO after I got denied the recon over the phone. They are closed today, but i left a message. I also called the presidents office, but that was closed too,

I am hoping to get it still, but not likely. Ill update.

and to be clear regarding my statement about not reading the forum anymore.. I owe my entire positive credit history to this forum for the most part. I just meant not reading it anymore because the success stories of people who have better profiles than me because it tempts me a lot. I LOVE MYFICO! thats why i read it every day

Android,Iam not trying to be dramatic and i apologize if it sounded harsh

Its simple to me really.With out the fico forum most of us would be unable to obtain the knowedge we have right now about credit

Please don't tell me that credit is just a tool because I know the difference first hand from the very difficult time I had with out it

I was very modest in regards to the previous statement. I really don't believe that po did anything wrong

He simply did the app at the wrong time judging by the4 K balance

I guarantee him that if he pay the balance down to 500$ and apply again he will get approve most likely

Lender don't like to see 4k balance when u ask them to extend you credit.

Just remember that people are a whole lot more excited when the get a good result, a new card or increase in credit line. You will have many many more postings of that, I think, than you will of people being denied. My opinion of course. And you are a heck of a better person than me. My 105 pound basset hound gets sick, i buy him a new box of milk bones. Until he can hold a job, he gets no $4000 surgery....do love the big lug though.

Credit is a tool. it's a tool that if properly used and maintained will help you acheive the wants and dreams you have in life - a mortgage on a dream house, a new car when you need one, a child's college education, a good retirement, many other things. Credit is a tool in life's toolbox if you will. PART of an overall picture of a life, but FAR from the defining thing. You didn't sound harsh in your response, you just gave me the impression that good credit defines a person, which it does not, in my opinion. So, when I see a topic that contains the word FAIL three seperate times, and the OP berates himself/herself, I like to remind people that credit isn't everything, and good things come to those who work for and wait for better things, including credit.

Hindsight is 20/20, if the app were successful, you would feel a different emotion entirely. As a matter of fact, if your recon meets with success with the EO, there is still reason to celebrate.

In my view, an app to see where we are in the real world isn't a bad thing. The mistakes are when we keep app'ing eventhough we're being declined. Wait for your results of the denial, fix them, and app again when your file has improved.
