Ok so when the time comes I'm debating which way I should go. I'm not requesting a cli from Chase for a while but when I finally do I don't know which card. I currently lean towards the CSP just because I wanna hit 10k. Also I never really put alot of money on the freedom. Thats not to say I would not like a cli on that card as well. Thoughts ???

if you are putting a lot more charges on your CSP, then get a CLI on your CSP.

One of the areas they evaluate when you request for CLI is that they look at how much you're spending each month as well. If you have a CL of 1500, but only spend 500 each month for example, they obviously will feel that you do not need a CLI.

Chase is probably the stingiest lender when it comes to CLI. There has to be good justification for them to approve it. And you know it is going to be a HP right?

While the idea of large limits attracting other large limits does make sense. So does the idea of not having all your eggs in one basket either.

Going off your siggy, I would try to even things out maybe with a CLI. Perhaps see if you can put half a CLI of 5K on each card so if you get a 5k CLI from chase, mabye ask if it can be spread out between both Freedom and CSP, 2500 each?

That way if something happens and you lose CSP, you don't lose such a large chunk of your overall lines.

Yeah I'm aware its a HP which sucks. I won't do this for a while tho. Honestly the freedom I use heavily when restaurants are in the 5% category. Otherwise, only when its transactions under 10 bucks. The CSP I use a good amount for my metrocard for the subway, cab rides, and when I eat out

when i got my CLI for chase amazon, they looked at my spending on the card. Because my initial CL was only 2000 but I was swiping over 4500 each month, the CSR was a lot easier to negotiate with. it might have been my credit scores at that time as well. I usually max out my cards 2-3 times each month and PIF more than once each month, so sometimes my balances that are reported put me at >95% util ratio, which drags my score down a lot. I didn't care about my scores because I wasn't applying for anything, and when they gave me a CLI i was around 690 at around 90% util.

from my experience, they were a lot more concerned about how much i was spending and paying each month, than about my overall credit report or other non-chase accounts.
