LOL I wouldn't say "goal" but I'd like to get the Fidelity AMEX sometime at the end of this year/early next year.

Hardest 3 -- I'd say Simmons First, CSP, and maybe PenFed? (although from my experience, PenFed was actually much easier for me than Chase Sapphire :/)

Im new to all this credit, so what is Simmons First? Bank? never heard of them before.

I was approved for a CHASE Freedom, is the Saphire better?

Simmons First Visa Platinum offers one of the lowest APRs (7.25%). I say they're one of the harder ones just based on their application -- they require a mini statement of financial condition...and they give eight boxes for total income....

But yes, they're a bank in Arkansas.

I think overall Chase Freedom might be better? Sapphire just offers 2x dining (CSP offers 2x dining and travel & it's metal!).

My goal card changes often, currently is Fidelity ( Visa Signatue or AMEX).

I think the hardest card for average person are the Visa Signature or World MC. They have large CL ( $5K minimum) and let you go over that as long as you pay it back in a month.

Average person or average myfico member? As someone mentioned on another thread recently, in the outside world, when people apply for credit card, the expectation is that they will get it (and would be weirded out if you congratulated them!), and I would think that a very large number of these are now signatures/world mc. $5K is a small CL in the wider world.

+1. I would add iberia bank cards to the list as well. Pretty similar to simmons first as far as terms go. Penfed used to be on the simmons first and iberia level as well but it seems like their underwriting standards have loosened considerably of late.

The truth is that there are very few (if any) cards that are actually difficult to obtain for the 740+ crowd, which is an easily obtainable score for someone with a clean file.

And of course some are hard to get because of membership restrictions. A lot of us would like to get the EX score from the credit union in PA, but we can't get that card if we don't live there. And another nice card that I can't get:

Aren't the last two technically not for an average person? The Centurion has minimum annual spend requirements of $250K and the Palladium requires a private banker (average cardmember has $30M in assets)....

IF I were out of the Garden....and IF I were looking to obtain my "goal card", it would likely be a JP Morgan Palladium. I would have added the Merrill Lynch Accolades card, but apparently it's no longer available. A CITI Prestige card might also be a "goal card". AMEX Platinum? It's so passe` anymore, anyone can get it!

Hardest to get? Well along with what others have said about Simmons First, I'd add the IberiaBank cards. The Select is supposed to be very difficult to get, but I was able to get it without the needed documentation that they normally require, with an $8K starting CL. I was very happy about that. IberiaBank was also the first one to tell me that I was over 800 on FICOs!

1)first premier, just love there reward system, pays very well.
2)secured cc from allied bank, great interest rates and no grace period....awesome service
3)credit one, cuz captial one don't cut it for me.

mine is CSP as I need a good travel card w/o FTF as I mainly charge in other currencies but USD and It is metal...we do not get to see these in Europe
