Shopping Cart Victorias Secret Fail??

So I did the trick the other day and a $500 approval popped up. I accepted and didnt purchase anything. Im a guy, what am i really buying! Anyways, I got a letter in the mail today saying;
Congratulations! You were recently pre-approved for a Victorias SEcret Angel credit card account.

THe letter says to go to the website and type in my PRESCREEN ID code and accept it. So I did.

Then it had me fill out an application with name, social, salary, address, etc. I was very weary to do this as it seems like an application and may be a HP which is totally not worth it. I went through with it and pressed submit and it says they will notify me by mail in 7-14 days.

What the heck just happened!!???????? In no way did I want or need this card other than the fact it was a soft pul and new trade line. I do not shop there. Figured I could buy something once a year to keep it open. but not worth a HP!!

Called the number given on the website and the CSR "doesnt have that information" and said I have to wait for the letter.

That's weird. Seems that you did the shopping cart trick, but then got an offer in the mail a few days later to apply for the card.

How long ago did you accept the pop-up pre-approval?

i've been trying to do the cart trick the past month but to no avail...just like you, i wouldn't mind having it for the tradeline and for the cost of a soft pull...i'll keep on trying tho so i can increase my tl...anyhow, would be great if you can keep us posted on your situation...

Sounds lke it might be a hard pull. Sorry! Hopefully it's not and hopefully you are approved.

I have to ask, though, because I've been wondering for a while on this site: Why do people insist on applying for the VS card? I understand you can get it without a HP a lot, but there are other stores where that's true (Express, Buckle, etc.). If you don't shopt at VS, why not choose one of the stores you DO shop at to apply for? We've seen a lot of posts lately with people saying "oh, I just got the VS card but I never actually shop there LOL!" and I just don't get it.

well i found a list of the stores to try on this forum and the only one i could consider shopping at was the outdoorsman sports store and i didnt get a pop up offer. I am not much of a clothes shopper and havent even heard of most of the other stores. i figured my GF could use the coupons from VS and i could buy something for her or family member or myself once a year.

seriously though, I am regretting it big time and i dont need a new trade line that bad!

That's fair; as long as you get SOME benefit from the card besides the TL.

I hope it's not a HP, but it sounds like it is if you had to fill out a traditional application. Definitely keep us updated and, of course, good luck!

You can also use the card at bath and body works, at the store only thought not online

Yeah, good luck. I was approved in Jan via the shopping cart trick and have only used it at Bath and Body.

Hope it's not a HP. I tried the shopping cart trick at VS, Express, NY and Co., and J.Crew every day for a straight 3 months and got NOTHING...so I just gave up!
