Chase Amazon PC?

I asked (email) if I could PC my Chase Amazon card to a Freedom and got the answer back "Sorry, no, but you can apply for a Freedom"

So, just to be annoyed and annoying, I replied, "OK, since I don't want a new app, I will get to keep the card I don't want and you continue to get no revenue from the card I don't use." I was then told that my request has now been forwarded to an escalation specialist. So I wonder what will happen....

Chase Amazon card-if you pay attention, the application is not actually at the chase website-it's at the amazon website. That probably has something to do with why nobody seems to ever be able to PC it to another chase card-seems they don't really consider it a chase card.

Its a card for amazon. Chase just is the issuing bank for Amazon. Amazon gives money(giftcard) to people who apply and are accepted, and they wouldn't want to work with Chase if everyone they gave a 50 bucks to would just be able to switch to another card with rewards other than Amazon. If you stop using the card that's your choice, but your missing out on rewards if you still shop at Amazon, unless you have 5% quarterly or a citi forward. And if you stop shopping at amazon completely well that's Amazon's not Chase's.

Well, I had the card since May 2004, so they got their money's worth (I just redeemed the $650 in points I had accumulated, in case the card does get changed).

I do have the Citi Forward (and Cash Plus if that works) which is why the card is now of no value.

On my credit report, this shows under Chase (of course) so I would think that Chase is really able to do a PC if they want, or do a SP for a new card.

I'm sure Chase and Amazon both have gotten their money's worth after 7 years. But they are two different companies. Between you and Chase it would be good, but between Amazon and Chase it wouldn't be good if Chase just canceled Amazon Visas whenever.

It basically would be "thanks amazon for getting people to sign up for CC's, now you we are taking them all for ourselves, and please continue to find us more clients." If chase started doing it regularaly, there would be no reason for Amazon not to switch issuers(whenever any contract is up).

I tried many many times. They just wouldn't let you product change to freedom.

Why not just apply for the freedom and keep the chase amazon? You get 3% all year round on amazon while freedom is just 5% for sept to December, and there's a 1500 limit which can be easily hit in just a couple orders

I don't want another application, as I have got a few cards recently, and want to save HPs for cards I really want! I don't want the Freedom particularly, but need a card that has some use, and that was the only one I saw. (No point in trying to PC to CSP, as that would lose the 40,000 points I would get from an application).

As said above, the Citi Forward (and others) give 5% on Amazon all year, which is why this 3% isn't of value.

Yeah, your free to cancel and apply for a different card. But Chase can't just take away Amazon's cards/users from Amazon.

Its not that Chase doesn't want to give you a freedom, its that Amazon doesn't want chase to cancel your amazon card. Either way your best bet is if you speak to the "escalation specialist" ask if you can get a freedom with just a softpull approval. And then you can keep both cards or just cancel amazon after you get freedom.

I'd be very certain they will soft pull before you proceed. Chase is a delight in most areas, but they are the most hard pull happy creditor I have ever dealt with.

Chances are you will end up canceling the amazon visa. Since you have the citi forward you aren't exactly losing out then. All good

Actually (don't tell Chase!) since it is a fairly large CL ($23.5K) I will keep it even if they don't find a good solution. It just won't get used. And to be fair, as it has never been my major card, it's not a great loss to chase, my spend on it last year was $12K, $16K the year before, so they will survive the loss of income from my swipes.

I don't think this is chase's fault, for not trying to help or cater to your needs. Rather than that like others said, they are probably bound contractually with their agreement with amazon and can't just steal customers at will.

Of course it's not Chase's fault, whatever that might mean, they have procedures and committments that I am not privy to. I asked, they said no, I commented, and they decided to look again. So saying No again is fine. But I am free to ask if they can cater to my needs, evaluate the answer and make decisions.

Just like recons, you can ask. In this case, they decided to recon, not me!

Thanks for the feedback. What exactly are you talking about? The sequence

1) I asked if they could PC the card

2) They said No

3) I said That doesn't sound a great solution (no threats, cheats or anything)

4) They said they would look again

So please explain where I am cheating, claiming I am in charge or anything. This is a consumer-business relationship. They set conditions on the relationship (card, CL, APR etc) and I can continue the relationship or not as my needs change.

Do you make the same sort of post when people recon a rejection? Or since this is an early post, I guess we can look forward to that!
