I did not accept or activate this offer after my initial application. Now they are charging me. How can I keep this from affecting my FICO score?

sadly, when you applied you basically accepted the offer and terms of whatever they were going to throw at you.

what they're charging you now is annual / monthly / account fees, not interest, since you had never used the card yet.

activating the card is just to acknowledge you received it and it's in good hands.

those fees do not affect your fico score, unless they are unpaid, which becomes deliquent eventually, and you end up with a charge off or collections.

if you dont want the card, call them and have them cancel it. they might be able to waive the fees for you if you just applied recently.

if they don't want to waive it, you just have to pay it. its a bummer, but there's no way around it.

The only thing that has affected your fico score is a new account reporting, which lowers your AAoA, and 1 added inquiry.

This is with most lenders not just Credit One. Even AMEX hits with Annual Fee (At least for Platinum) in first statement whether you activate or not.

try giving them a call and see if they can remove some of the fees at least. after the fees are removed or paid off, feel free to close the account if you feel that you don't need it.
