Amazon.com Chase Card Approved. 1/2 Drap. Adios BoA it's been a blast, lol

As a grad student and pet owner, I buy most of my normal goods on amazon. I also get Amazon prime which is amazing. Tonight after only 3 beers I applied for amazon.com chase card through the amazon site and was instantly approved for 5K limit.

Within 5 minutes the account showed up on my chase.com account. I received only a $30 amazon credit for this, but hey - that pays for my puppy food for next month!

As a result - I am closing my BoA Travel Rewards. It has moved into last place. It's actually not a bad card at all, I just will never use it again and my philosphy is to close what I dont use.

I tried to close it online through chat - and after 15 minutes of talking to a CSR they told me that the only way to close a card via chat is if you have multiple accounts with BoA. Thanks for wasting my time and confirming my decision.

I'm now left with:

Penfed Plat: 4.5K; 5% Gas, 3% Groceries, 1% other

Penfed Defender: 5K; 1.5% everything automatically (I only have my reoccuring bills set to this card, it doesnt leave my house because if I lost it I would have to update ALL of my utilities!)

Chase Freedom: 11.5K, 5% rotating

Chase Amazon: 5K, 3% Amazon.com, 2% restaurant and drug stores

And then my two old babies...

USAA WMC: 12k: only use for my $8/renters insurance policy and my oldest card of 5 years

Navy Fed Cash Rewards: 10K; only used for $4/month Pandora One subsription.

All in all - Gained Amazon.com card, cancelled BoA Travel Rewards 1.5% point card.

I would close the USAA and Navy cards but they are my oldest

Unfortunetly, this is going to be my 5th Chase card over 5K, and only my CSP was a siggy. I think they are going to give me the reg version, but honestly, it really doesnt make much of a difference to me!

I inititally had a 5K Freedom and a 5K CSP Siggy. I closed the CSP. Then later I applied for United Explorer at 6.5K, closed my freedom and moved that line to create 11.5K United. Then I applied for Freedom again, closed the United and moved that line to Freedom. Now I applied for Amazon, for an extra 5K to my Freedom.

This is all over the course of about 2 years, lol.

I'm keeping these two accounts forever now

I try not to have more than 5 cards. I have churned and burned over 20 cards in the last 3 years and still have over a 720 EX.

I really only use 3 cards, and only carry 2. I dont even carry a debit card, but an ATM card in case of emergeny.

I believe it's not. I think it's points towards amazon internally only. Which is cool since I buy all my dog food, clothes, and random things at amazon instead of going out on the economy

Wait... so can you get cash back into chase checking account at a 1:1 ratio, then use that case on Amazon for additional 3% back?
