I applied for Barclasys US airways and got approved for 4k limit.I called to recon for 10k to match the other cards and it was a no go

I explain to the recon department the reason for the 10k limit but it was one of those UW that couldn't see more then1 inch away

I politely rejected his offer and kindly explain to him that I wasn't ready to take a hit on myAAOA for this kind of limit. Not so happy with Barclays Recon Dept

Did they agree not to report the card? Otherwise you have the HP and the AAoA hit anyway.

What reasons did you give for the $10K?

I travel more then 20k in airline tickets a year because of my business and i did explain the UW that but he would change subject always

The card was not open because i rejected the approval upfron so no hit on the AAOA

I guess i should talk to a diffrent UW but i already recon the approval and the recon dept was not very helpful

Yes I have 6 20k lines

The lady I spoke with she was really nice but when I was transferred the man I was talking to he was trying to find any thing and everything to get me no where

He even said that the app shouldn't even get approved because I have enough credit

I explain to him that the other credit is used specifically for specific purchases at the designated merchants for the discounts offered

I need this card specifics for the airline purchases and take advantages of the miles.

Oh, didn't know you could do this. Online, I've never seen an option not to accept. Is this Barclays-specific, or did you app on the phone?

1. Call again.

2. Repeat number one one more time if you don't get the answer you want, or ask for a higher up.

3. Double check the app site and make sure it doesn't have an approval listed and will not report if you choose to walk away.

Can they offer you a different product? I know they have a few that begin at 5K limits.

I am sorry you didn't get what you wanted. It stinks to give up a HP for that.

I am planning to do just that but its almost like a brick wall when they tell you you have to much credit

Not to mention they are with in their rights to refuse my request

Should I wait until tomorrow or just call right now? I called them 8:30 this morning

That's also a card with an uncertain future, so not sure how much effort it is worth expending on.

Maybe offtopic but... why not just get the Chase Sapphire Preferred if you travel a lot? You can even request for the plastic version if you are worried about the metal version not working in certain countries.

Yes, thanks. So the add of Virgin does seem to add a lot of value to UR. power1234, I was assuming you wanted miles on US Air (hence applying for the card) and I wasn't sure that the suggestion of the Chase Sapphire Preferred would meet that need, but from the above it does.

But, as I said in an earlier post, with AA/US Air merger, it's not clear what will happen to this card. US Air miles might get converted to AA miles, but a lot of speculation is that Citi's AA cards will be the ones that survive, and that the Barclay US Air card would be transformed into another Barclays product. Which may or may not be fine!

Well if you have 6 lines of credit open already that is 120k in credit available, Not to mention you said your score is only 720. . Perhaps they had good reason to initally offer 4k. Unless I am missing something I don't see where analyst may not have had a vaild point.
