I checked my FICOs in the last few days and I had some lates fall off from Feb 2011. My TU FICO is showing as 737, it is the only one that allows me to refresh. Before the lates fell off my TU was 687. I can't refresh my EQ/EX scores because I'm using the trials on SW and the EX website for the next few days. Last check (about a week ago) they were: EQ 629 and EX 603. TU showing 4 INQ, EQ/EX zero INQ.

I considered applying for Discover or maybe a Chase card. Guessing that my other scores have also jumped, can anyone advise on which card or cards would be a good attempt for me at this time?

I have 2 GECRB backed cards, one from Feb 2013 and one from March 2013 but I haven't used them yet.

Yes, but I am a little hesitant due to what I have read about their mood swings with pulling cards. I also have some derogs, CO and CA I am slowly paying off. Several installment loans in good standing though.

I have a 9.5 yr old BK 7 and one $1000 collection and they approved me on Friday...matched my limits on the Cap1 Cash Rewards and BB store card, $2500 CL. My everyday spend per month is about $1600. Chase and Discover gave me $1000 toy limits. I'm still waiting for my card!

you can test the waters by filling in your info for pre-approval tool on their websites. if you are pre-approved, at least you know your chances aren't that bleak. even if you're not pre-approved, that doesn't mean you won't be approved. i wasn't pre-approved for Chase CSP and Discover but I got approved when i applied.

Lily,

if u just have your 2 cards AND the oldest is from Feb, i would hold off applying for Discover/Chase etc. Them accounts are still new and might hurt your chances more than help. If i were you, id run some $ through the cards you have and let them report "age" for about 6 months or so and then try. Chase likes to see revolving history. IMO, you may have a shot with Discover, but it may be a lower limit and higher APR.

So, you have 2 cc's, installment loans and multiple CA/COs. IMO the first thing you need to do is take care of your baddies, GW - assuming the CA/COs are all within SOL- be careful when approaching the creditors.

Second, your cards are new, to new for Chase ( they want 6 mos- 1 yr of revolving credit) that's assuming you take care of your derogatory credit. Discover may be more lenient but probably not to new credit with current outstanding COs.

Work on getting your bad credit off your report, do not app and let your current cc's age.

Good luck!

Good luck!

I'm working on it, in small payments. What do you mean be careful, do you mean the baddies or new cards? One of my loans is through Discover also, and all of my loans are in good standing. Do you think that would make a difference with Discover? I app for the Discover version of WM card, got offered store card but that was when my score was much lower. I also have been reading widely varied opinions about INQ and whether or not they drop scores. Is this a ymmv issue?
