Am Ex Application Spree

OK guys. I just know the FR police are going to be hot on my tail...

I got the Delta Skymiles back in June with a $1000 cl. I went on an app spree a few days ago and somehow got approved for the following:

The Knot Am Ex

Am Ex Blue

Am Ex Blue Cash

Starwood Preferred Am Ex

That makes 5 Am Ex cards. Probably a bad decision, right?

I checked my app status online and it said APPROVED, but didn't list my CL. Does anyone know what the minimum limits are on these cards?

Not sure if that was the smartest move to make Heidi. Have you thought about calling to combine the cards into one?

No real reason...I got an immediate online approval for the Blue ($5k). Didn't realize that the regular Blue didn't offer cash back so I tried for the other as well. Will probably cancel the regular Blue now that I got Blue Cash...

Applied for The Knot since we're getting married next May and liked the discounts associated with the card.

Just got off the phone with Am Ex. I was approved for $5k on each new line. The rep said I could combine the CL's into one/two card(s) after activation, which seems like the best thing to do. That will leave me with one card and a $20k CL.

Any suggestions as to whether I should keep one or two? My current util is <5%...do you think this will help my score in the long run (I realize the initial hit for inquiries, new accounts, etc)?

Personally? Since you like the discount assoc with the Knot Card I would keep that one and possibly put 15k on the cash back card. But you have to look at other things such as interet rates etc.....

I know and that's fine. I expected it even with my existing AmEx card. I didn't lie on the app and can prove income - so they can bring it on.

I am glad you have a BIG O can of FR repellent. So you won't get stung. Congrats on your approvals and enjoy there is more to life than worrying about an FR right.

I AGREE. I just wish people would stop making a big deal out of it. Heidi is happy with the cards....CONGRATS.....now enjoy them. Oh and if you want a couple Amex cards you can apply for them at once and only get one hard inq. I also agree with Brammy on which cards to keep. Just allocate the CL however you need.

Congrats HeidiBoo,

Don't feel bad, I have 5 amex cards as well

Blue- $10,000

Clear-$10,000

Opt. Plat- $10,000

Gold rewards plus- no limit

green-corporate card- no limit

I have been through a FR and as you stated just keep it real and everything should be okay. I just gave them approval to pull my tax info. No bank statements (thank GOD!), I have a ton of my money in investments, I gave them nothing else.

Enjoy your cards, I know I do!!! I only use my AMEX blue..no other cards have balances on this AMEX.

I have Chase rewards and Bank Of American World Points.. I don't think these cards are all that!
