UGH....Amex 7 to 10 day with CLI

Well after 18 months and two prior tries I just submitted a cli request and got a 7 to 10. My profile has been cleaned up big time with over 10k paid off. Zero balance on my amex. Can I call to get a recon or am I likely denied again. todays experian score puts me at 750

Wow.. you make so much and they still denied. After seeing couple of other denials and my own approval, I am highly convinced that major portion of approval is based solely on their own risk score rather than EX score. They don't seem to care what your EX score is as long as you internal risk factor is low with them

Wow! Usually when Amex declines a CLI, it indicates that they probably want income verification. Have you tried this number: 800-230-1284?

I can tell you after a year with Delta Gold Amex, everything else in order, and salary increase....Chase Sapphire Preferred approval and Citi HHonors at 15k, good utilization ratio, Amex declined my first CLI, recently same notice about "7-10 days...."
I empathize :-(

This could be a trend, although I just a 3x CLI with AMEX back on February.

I feel your pain.

I have been declined for a CLI 3 times so far. I will be trying again the first week of May for the fourth time (will have had the card for one year then), and my profile is much better than in the past. Overall utilization is now less than 5%, and this is on only one card - everything else is a $0 balance. EQ/TU Ficos are hovering around the 750 mark.

Will I get it? I honestly don't know. There is clearly something about me that they don't like. I've never carried a balance, I always PIF before statment cuts, etc. I dunno... And not to burst your bubble further, but when I get the 7-10 day message for this it's definitely a decline.

And yes, if anyone has the number/knows of an option to recon a declined CLI request, I'd love to hear it, too.

Well I have to admit I got a little angry on the drive home and lashed out by doing a sapphire app (been in garden for 18 months) boom 5000 cl. May have to say bye to amex...but its back date to 98 so that might need some further thought
