In the past when I have requested CLI I have always been asked by the company, why I am requesting the limit...

How do you guys answer this question, or what is the best answer to give? I have always said something along the lines of, I just want more spending/purchase power. I always get approved so that must be a fine answer, just was wondering what everyone else says...

So far I think only Macys / Bloomingdales have asked me this.

i'd just tell them I am planning to make a big purchase and rather than to pay for it using different cards.

seems to just be random chatter while the system is processing / pulling my info though.

Depends on the card. For a general purpose CC I usually do it around the holidays and use that as a reason. For a store card like Amazon or Lowes I'm constantly in need of a new TV or lawn mower, seems to work. Typically aren't asked for a reason though.

Make them work to keep your business.
