I'm honestly not sure about that one. Appbar may have an answer, but the question is this: do you even semi-regularly stay at hotels that run $300/night or more, and do you ever pay for business class airfare with cash?

If you want lounge access, you'll should get full access from a program like United's RCC, AA's Admirals club, etc. Another alternative would be to obtain membership in a third party program such as lounge club, priority pass, etc. if you're relying on WEMC for lounge access you'll be sorely disappointed. The reason I asked you those 2 questions earlier is because that's where WEMC's benefits really show. Virtuoso and WEMC hotels offer perks similar to Amex's FHR, and there are some other benefits for those paying business flights using cash. If you're not doing either of those, you probably won't notice much of a difference at all.

But since there is no lounges for WEMC, then everything is now moot.

WEMC used to offer lounge access membership to Priority Pass but you still had a $27-$35 per person/per visit fee to pay, so it was a minimal savings at best. Airline WEMC were exempt from this, so even if WEMC continued to mandate lounge access, the United Club card would not include it. Also of note, a lot of people here and on other forums confuse the fact that having a silver MC logo = WE. This isn't true, CSP and some other cards like the old CO OnePass MC have silver logos but these are World cards.

99% of the time a silver logo = WEMC but Chase seems to be the global exception. I aso wanted to add that Citi does include a very terrible lounge program for the non-airline WEMC they offer. It's called First Lounge and is $35 p/p per visit, has very limited options and involves prepaying and printing off a voucher to gain access.

Thanks for the info. So if the old OnePass' were WMC and the old CO PP were WEMC, then people would have converted to the Explorer = WMC and United Club = WEMC? Lots of stories out there where people converted their old UA cards and kept the MCs. But if the old One Pass' were indeed only WMC, then there is no way the Explorer can have WEMC I assume.

Based on another user that posted pictures, his CO WMC converted to a UA WMC - both with silver logos and hence some confusion but his UA clearly said World.
