Credit Line Questions with AMEX

I'm a little frustrated with AMEX. They made the Hilton HHonors card worthless so I apply for the Starwood. They decline me. I call Exec office. They approve me for $1000. My question is can I move some CL from my Hilton to SPG or BCE to SPG then close them? If so how do I go about it? Who do I call? Thanks guys for the help!!

AFAIK AMEX does not move CL's but I could be wrong.......

Hopefully someone with knowledge on it will chime in!!

Not sure if they still do, but a while ago I was able to move $6,500 from an old Clear card to my Blue Cash. It was done online, so YMMV.

Did you take the whole credit line or did you leave like $500 on the clear card? I did find the option to move credit lines from one product to another online in account management. Was wondering if you could transfer all the line from one then close it.

You can request to move CL from one card to another... not sure what you have to leave on the old card but think at least $500. They also almost make it seem like it's some sort of APP but it's no INQ and I have not heard of someone actually declined to do so. Was so much better when you could do it online... but I think they realized people opened new cards just for the CLI and then realocated CL's to the ones they wanted... use to even be able to do it on business cards!!!! that was probably the big one.
