Plain white envelope. Get the chase mileage plus club if you want something somewhat fancy

I'm waiting on my CSP today as well. My Amex Mercedes Benz Platinum came in nice packaging with a velvet booklet on the benefits.

If I remember correctly it came in a normal envelope. Contrary to what people may think, it's really not high-end enough to warrant anything that special.

Like the other poster said, if you want something nicer try the United Club Card. The JPM cards also have nice packaging as well.

I got mine last week through UPS. Was very excited to open up the UPS envelope to find the plain white Chase envelope inside lol.

I wasn't expecting the Discover IT packaging though, it's nice!

My CSP came in a regular white envelope enclosed in a FedEx one.

Same here, althought it came the day after I applied! I would rather have the card in a hurry then a fancy box to take up more room in the trash.

To creditscholar, It may not be "high end" to the likes of someone as awesome as yourself, but to alot of people here, myself included, it is. And I really don't care what it's packaged in, I was just curious.

I don't think creditscholar was being rude in any way. The card is NOT a premium card( for the general population), and it would not make sense for Chase to spend lots more money on fancy packaging (they give a very generous sign-up bonus instead). The Discover IT is lower down the scale, but in that case, a marketing decision was made to get it out there. So tons of mail, fancy packaging etc, all to add to the buzz. Chase obviously decided that they didn't need that for the CSP, whereas some of their high-end cards do/did get fancier treatment.

+1. This is exactly what I was getting at, although it looks like I touched a nerve with someone. If my intent is to be rude, it will be quite obvious as I am not a subtle person.

There is a huge difference between a card with ~$100 AF and ~$400. Given how strong the CSP is already, they really don't need any fancy packaging. I suspect that a lot of the money that may have been spent on presentation went instead to a generous signup bonus, improving the value and functionality of the URprogram, etc.

The Discover IT is more of an exception than the rule. Visa/MC/Amex dominates the overall transction numbers worldwide, so Discover may have felt the need to go above and beyond in order to increase visibility/gain marketshare.

Tbh even at $95, I expected a slightly nicer welcome kit. Nothing as luxurious and ostentatious as Palladium or Centurion, but something a bit more elevated in design. Still a great card, great value, etc but nothing exciting. Discover it has a nice welcome kit.

The design budget probably went to the card itself instead of the packaging.

And I think the Premier at $125 also came in a plain envelope... I don't have the Prestige, did that come with an upmarket presentation?

Yes Premier was also pretty plain. The World Elite upgrade was a nicer kit, in a larger mailer with booklets, nice welcome letter, glossy amenities booklet, and summary of benefits.

Personally, I prefer a plain, white envelope. There are too many fraudsters out there, so why make it more obvious?

Discover sent mine in a FedEx envelope and inside it was just a plain white envelope 😞 maybe because I had them rush it to me.

The packaging really doesn't matter though. What matters IMO is the look and feel of the card. I usually throw out all the packaging after I open it anyways.
