They're awfully antsy these days. You might want to seriously think about using the Delta for 6 months, showing them that you're responsible, and then swapping.

I don't know but today I couldn't resist the temptation to apply again for a Delta Gold, I read it was easier to get. I applied to the Student Blue 3 days ago and while my fico scores are all between 650-670, I got declined based on about 7 other reasons. So I've paid of all my other cards and closing ones I don't need. And I was going to wait for them all to report zero balances but the urge hit me, and I got approved!!

I still won't believe it until the actual card gets here. I'm just shocked based on the number of reasons I was declined 3 days before. They had me call for address verification, which I think at that point I was already approved anyway, but it seemed like talking to a live person helped too......

Anyway, I still want to get the Blue instead, will it be as easy as just calling them to switch once I receive the Delta Gold card? I hope so.

So, I'm going to have my 3 credit cards, all I need now is a Discover =D. Closing out all my other cards from crappy banks.

Granted, this is a charge card rather than one of their very scary revolvers, but I figured that my scores and reports are as awful now as they're ever going to be. So if they approved me after looking at this steaming mess, there's not anything else I plan to do that could worry them. Just a thought.

Yeah I have no problem using the delta for a few months and asking later, my question is that will they switch the account to the new card or ask me to apply for a new one altogether. I've had US Bank do this with my student visa to a platinum visa. However Cap1 said they can't do this, BoA also said the same thing. So if asking right off the bat means getting a blue I'd rather do it now than later.

Do you all think they'll give me problems later or no? Either way I'm just happy to have an Amex now.

I'm just a reader on this one.

You might want to start a separate thread on this with something like "future AmEx product change" as the title. I know that lots of people have done this in the past, and a specific title might catch their attention. There have been so many AmEx threads recently that some people are starting to curl up in a ball when a new one comes along!

IMO- the Delta IS a better card than the Blue-

Delta gets better if you have a Green as the AF goes down -

Blue is better with a Green and the "Express rewards" turns into member rewards

Blue Cash is sweet if you can push enough though it to get serious cash back-

So if you are going to have 1 card with Amex=

Delta or Blue cash

2 Cards= Blue and Green or Delta and Green

Nah I definitely don't need a card with an annual fee at all. I'm a student so I won't be pushing much money through. I wanted an Amex because I buy a lot of technology related items I could use extra warranty coverage on, etc. I also wanted to have something other than a wallet full of Visa cards down the line.

Applying for the Delta was a way of getting my foot in the door, because for whatever reason I was declined for the Student and approved for this one? Go figure.

Keep the Delta-

This is not the first time I have heard recently someone apping for a student card being denied- then apping for a regular and getting it.

The other person had a high 700 FICO too.
