Credit cards you just can't seem to "crack"

i think all of us at one time or another have made numerous attempts at trying to obtain a particular credit card.. what card(s) can you just not obtain for one reason or another? For me its Chase Freedom and any card from Discover! It used to be GE as well but i now have two GE branded cards so i'm trying for a Chase product this fall

Citi Forward. I've applied twice and the last time recon'd with the EO. Even asked them to just move some of my current CL from my TY Premier. It just isn't gonna happen.

For me :

Discover- Applied and denied in 2010 and 2011. Didn't bother trying in 2012 because all of my new accounts. I plan on applying this year as I have been in the garden 174 days.

Citi Bank- they have denied me 3 times, the last being last year.

First Premier Bank. I keep asking them to remove the monthly and annual fees, reduce my apr to under 10%, add 2% cash back with 5% rotating categories quarterly and they keep denying me!

Anything from CITI.

I have never had a card from them or any accounts. Denied 3 times for 3 different cards in a lapse of 1 year.

Reasons. Serious deliquency 5 years ago. That's what I get from them when I call for recon. Meanwhile I get great CLI's from other CC companies.

That was my problem with Citi as well. Approvals with high CLs at Amex and Chase, but no go from Citi for one of their 'intro' cards. I think the only reason I got approved for the Citi TY was I got a pre-approval in the mail. I plan on PCing from my TY Premier to the TY Preferred after the first year to avoid the fee and I wonder if they will ask why. Without comboing it with the Forward, I don't think the TY point network is worth it. Maybe that will change with the rumored changes to the reward program this summer. They'll have to do something to compete with Chase's UR platform.

Citi's cards have proven to be ridiculously difficult to attain. I honestly think their student cards are more difficult to get than some Amex cards.

The worst part is that I can only think of one or two cards in their entire lineup that even warrants such selectivity.

last year it was citi for me. This year got in with instant approval.

This year it looks like it's going to be barclays-I mean okay theyre going to say too many new accounts. But if theyre using 14-15 month old cards as part of that count, then dang, theyre really tryna steer me away lol, recon analysts not looking to help for now either.

For me its Discover and AMEX.. Got at least one from every other company.. I understand AMEX.. but discover pffffft... I aint even gonna ever try again for them. Waiting on 1 last app in 5 yrs.. AMEX. well 4 thas when report will be completely clean, maybe 2 thats when only 1 baddie will be on haha.. yeh 5..

Wow, with your scores and your limits I can't believe they turned you down!! That makes me totally wigged to try app-ing and I was planning on trying in a few days. What reason did they give?

Don't use me as a benchmark lol. I went app crazy and got most of my cards after Amex turned me down. Prior to applying for Amex I only had Wells Fargo, chase amazon, Bloomingdales and Macy's.
the reason I got turned down was too many recent inquiries (5) due to an auto loan that was opened 1 month prior. Loan balances reported were too high too because its a brand new auto loan reporting :/

For me i thought Chase wasnt going to like me at all. Applied back in August of 2012 and got denied 2 times (one on recon). Was so afraid to apply again considering how i read they are INQ sensitive and dont like collections/chargeoffs on reports (no matter how old they are). I gave it a shot and got instantly approved for a signature card a copule of days ago. As of last year i got denied Chase, AMEX, and Citi all in one day and now i am in with all 3...lol. Thanks to this forum of course!

Yeh i got lucky with chase, yet forgot to mention.. I caannot get in with my own bank either... Wells Fargo HATES me... I always have thousands in my account, go through thousands a month... but yet will not approve me for a CC... I use to be with Wachovia and wells fargo bought them out.. so only with them for about 2 yrs maybe 3..but still a loyal customer, they have access to my money before i do with direct deposit.. so friggin fed up with that..alls i got was well you can apply for a secured im like pffft yeh you can go to hellO
