CSP Attention

Today, I went through Wendy's drive they and ordered my usual grilled chicken combo. When I get to the first window to pay, I hand the cashier my card. She takes it, slides it and then decides to question me. Literally.

Asking me how I got the card? Is there a number to call? How she "needs" to get herself a Chase and just literally HOLDING on to my card while this is going on.

Meanwhile, I just want my card, food and to go. I guess the whole appeal of the CSP is that it's just a means of paying for me but she took it way too seriously.

In an effort to be polite and get my card back, I said um I'm not sure but have a good day! Haha

I've had a few people asked me as well. The card is dinstinctive in the way that its a lot heavier than normal cards due to the metal core.

I usually tell them to just apply in the branch if they ask, but most of them seem to remember about this card from the TV ads Chase was advertising.

I live in NC and we don't have Chase locations here so I guess seeing one was a little out of the ordinary. I work for a major technology company and hardly ever see them myself haha.

I don't think a drive-thru window is the proper venue for financial advice...lol...!

Anyway, when I was at Nordstorm, this cashier dude kept looking at it and asked me if it's a metal, I said yes. I know they see a lot of card at Nordstorm, but a CSP is still special.

Today I was at the vet inside Petsmart buying some heartworm meds and the receptionist commented on how nice my CSP was! She noted that it was very "substantial" lol.

While at first it got attention, it's reached enough of a market penetration that it doesn't attract nearly as much attention anymore, but maybe it's because I live in the NY/NJ area where Chase branches are on every corner.

I'll agree the CSP gets a fair bit of attention, but I think my JPM Ritz Carlton card gets more. The new EMV version is substantially heavier than even the CSP, plus it's shiny, black and says Ritz Carlton on it.

A colleague of mine has the JPM Ritz Carlton card and it is a very sexy looking card indeed!

The JPM gets quite a bit of attention, but to be honest my Eurasian Diamond Card get much more. It has an EMV version, but unlike the JPM it is elaborated with a pure gold pattern and 0.02 carat genuine diamond.

P.S. I dont really have a Eurasian Diamond Card

I've got compliments when I use it too. I just wish it was a little heavier though because I guess since I've held it and got used to it, now when I feel it myself, it just feels regular sometimes.lol.

About the Ritz Carlton....what's so great about that card? I haven't really done much research about it just yet, but I keep hearing about that card. Is it just another card for hotels, etc??

I was too questioned about my CSP at a drive through. The guy commented on how heavy it was and asked why the preferred version was different than the regular version. I can relate as I once took a payment at work with a centurion card and I remember being amazed by it and I had a whole conversation with the guy. I had never heard of it before. I have yet to see another of those. And I saw my first CSP out in the wild a few days ago and it was a MC version too.

It's a benefits-heavy card offered through JP Morgan. Essentially the benefits are:

- Ritz Carlton Gold Status (and Marriott Gold) after 10k in annual spend

- $100 hotel credit for paid stays of 2 nights or more at the Ritz Carlton

- 3 upgrades per year to the Ritz Carlton Club Level (on paid stays, valid for up to 7 nights each)

- Lounge Club Membership (unlimited uses annually for you plus one)

- $200 Airline Incidentals credit (like the Amex platinum but it's not locked into only one airline)

- 5x RCR/MR points per dollar at the Ritz/Marriott, 2x on airfare, dining and car rentals, 1x on everything else

Pfft, a 0.02 ct white diamond? That's it? That's really not worth that much.

I actually JUST looked it up before logging back into this site. Its really pricey to stay there! Its really nice though. One of these days, maybe I'll go for one night to see how it is. Not sure if i'd be willing to pay that AF just yet....MAYBE...but maybe not...lol. I don't stay in hotels all that much. Although, I LOVE hotels, I don't stay in them all that much.

They are nice, but as a general rule Ritz rooms run $300-600 per night. People who stay there pay a premium for their level of service, in addition to the normal luxury hotel amenities.
