Would lenders judge you on Loggin into account many times?

Hey All,

I log in too many times(computer, smart phone) into my credit card accounts. I have saved their addresses on my browser(s).

I would say in a given day I average logging(computer, phoen) at least 5 times a day! LOL. Yes I do. Too excited that I am back on credi-card-horse after 8 years of living on cash in the US of A.

They could. Whether they do or not is anyone's guess; however, I realized long ago that anything I do on the Internet can be used against me, and in this instance of using a portal for any business but especially a data-driven one like lender underwriting and account management... well I think this is fair game, though what they might pull out of it is beyond me

I think the only consequence to that practice is that the lender may ask you an additional verification once in a while to make sure your account is not under attack.

I log into all my accounts at least twice a day... I have never seen harm come from it.

That's crazy that you ask this, because I've been wondering this very thing lately. I log into my accounts 2 or 3 times a day and haven't had any problems.

If anything, I would guess they should be glad we're doing it. If questioned about it, I would simply say I like to make sure my charges are going through and there isn't any possible fraudulent charges occurring. There shouldn't be anything wrong with making sure your accounts are up to date and uncompromised.

But on the other hand, they could also argue that's what alerts are for...

Actually I think they track every metric. They may not have a use for it yet in their underwriting formula, but I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't track it for "future use". Course, this is just my opinion.

I highly doubt it.

Only situation that might raise a flag is if your logging in a lot from different computers.

The problem with letting automated apps logging in you may miss offers such as when Walmart offers to upgrade from store card to Discover, I have no idea how many times that displays to the user though

Ah, OK, going to go all technically geeky.

I promise you they're tracking logins at some level; PCI compliance effectively mandates that. It's not a long walk to pull an entire history on that, we're talking small amounts of data in a properly implemented date/time field.

Whether as S10 and I suggest it's actually be used today for underwriting decisions is anyone's guess; however, companies have been collecting massive amounts of information over the past two decades, and they're only just now starting to find uses for it (my own employer is no exception to this and we're one of the least technical organizations I've ever worked for).

End of the day though, they are tracking it, and while it's probably collecting the technical form of dust on a disk platter somewhere, they do have that information. I wouldn't bet the farm in saying they don't use it conclusively, just because we've never seen any anecdotal incidence. I would suggest though, monkies with typewriters principle applies, eventually someone will use it.
