Oooooh Capital One isn't the Devil..

Okay, so out of pure curiousity I called Cap1, not to tell them that they were going to be #1, but just to see if my card really DID have a ceiling. When I applied in Jan I picked the 'needs improvement' and it stated the limit would be between 300 and 3000. I got 3k right out of the gate. I assumed I would be capped there (hah! 'capped' w/ cap1). Well, it wasn't. I told the guy I was trying to decide what to do with the card b/c the rate adjusts soon. I thought it was May, he told me it was July 1. He asked if I wanted to try for a CLI and I said only w/o a hard pull. He said "definitely not a hard pull".

The verdict? Up 750 to 3750. He wanted to make sure I was happy with my account and my card design. (I'm not sure where that came from, but it was nice to hear!)

Three months, 1 CLI.. I'm impressed!

WTG!

I had just asked in another thread about ceilings. Last night I got the CLI... did the #1 card statement thing.. and got my first CLI in ummm 12 or so years! Maybe after my 3rd statement and (keeping fingers crossed) an auto CLI I will ask them about the ceiling. Last night they asked me about my card design too and encouraged me to choose another... even upload a pic for my card.

Thanks! I saw your post after I posted my 'story'. I should have probably posted it in there, but I originally figured it wasn't a promotional item so I decided to keep it separate.

Congrats on your CLI!

I'm wondering, with respect to card designs, if they're trying to get everyone to have a card w/ the 'new' logo. I specifically inquired about the Constitution design and he said that was no longer available. Very interesting sub-topic.

Yup, and of course I NOW wonder what the REAL ceiling is.. LOL

You're very welcome! I feel the same way -- I never really realized how huge the utility factor was until I started poking around this place. When I started here I had just made it to 0% util out of about 13k avail. My avail has more than doubled and my utils are playing the game nicely too!

At least this is a fun and productive hobby!!!
