So I just got a preapproved offer for First National Bank of Omaha for the Amex card version, should I do it? I realize it means stepping out of the garden to do so, but I have heard getting this preapproval offer is a good thing. I heard they give high limits usually, just like Compass. I don't have an Amex card yet and I think the FNBO is easier to get than a regular one, so I was think I should just go ahead and do it.

Any advice pro or con is greatly appreciated.

I got a preapproval from them for the Amex last year and went for it. They approved me and gave me my highest limit at the time. I love FNBO and have nothing bad to say about them. Their customer service is great and I have already got a cli with them. I like the way they do those. You call them every 4-6 months and just ask if you have a preapproved increase waiting on your account. If so, they give it to you with no pull. They have already mad the decision to up your limit and all you have to do is check and see. You can also called and request one but it will be a hp. I hope this helps wtih your decision!

I received that preapproval a couple of months ago. I called and applied and was approved. But it's not an instant approval. They do a manual review which will take several days, I had to call them a couple of time before the information even showed in their system. The limit I received was on $3000. And they told me that I would have to wait about six months before they will raise it. I didn't like that because my beginning limit on my BCE was 6,500. I just started using the card so I can't tell you much about my experiences yet. But every time I have received a pre-approval, I have gotten the card... that is, if I applied. I have thrown away tons of pre-approvals from Chase, Citi and Capital One. I need time to allow my inquires to fall off before I will take another pre-approval offer.

Also, they indicated, that as long as your credit report hadn't changed much since they sent the offer then you should be okay. So hopefully, you don't have a bunch of recent inquires.

Well from the looks of it I should apply. I imagine it will be a fairly decent credit limit and give me more luv than Barclays, Capital One, Household, or the Marathon Visa I have. It seems like Barclays likes everyone but me. I have had the account for 9 months and used it pretty heavily and no luvin. We all know the difficulties in Capital One and HSBC. And the Marathon Visa gave me a 300 CLI, but I can't blame them, the increase is higher than what I have spent on the card. I mostly got it to have leverage with speaking to Capital One! At the time it was higher than any other card!

It looks like it is a good idea then to get this FNBO account and if they give me a higher limit then it might be helpful. A higher limit will be helpful in speaking to Capital One and when I go after the real deal Amex! Imagine having a $10,000 limit with the Compass $8,000 limit and calling HSBC/Capital One and asking for a CLI!

Sir what would you like your limit to be?

Factoring in the length of time I have had this account, the recent change to such excellent customer service, and my other cards, then I think you could match my most recent card.

But sir that limit is 20 times your current limit.

That is true and does this mean you are acknowledging you are very behind doing the right thing?

Then I can finally get a Venture Card upgrade!

I would say go for it.

Got approved for 6k CL, and 11 months later, one auto-CLI and one requested CLI (ask if they have a preapproved CLI in for me on the phone) and the card sits at $9500. Since the first month, I have never had a zero balance, 12 months zero percent interest, for both CLI's I had a balance over 30%, currently had 60% reporting on the card for the CLI, this bank feels pretty close to the GE of prime lenders, You can call in and check for CLI's every 3-4 months and if they have one its a SP.

This card is now my highest limit...
