Do Chase and Citi do HP's for CLI's?

I'm curious about this. My Chase freedom is only a 1K limit and my citi thank you has a $500 limit, i've had both of these cards for longer than year and always PIF when I used them. I'm thinking it's time to ask for higher limits, any advice or things to be cautious about?

For Citi call the customer care and ask for cli via SP. in case Chase you can try that but in most cases it would be a HP.
In case of citi you could login in your account and ask for cli. Citi has great track record of giving cli via SP.

Chase will most likely do a HP. Agree ^^^ that it's possible to get cli from Citi via online.

Just to make sure I'm on the same page, if I request a CLI online from Citi I won't have to worry about an HP? And Chase is an HP regardless, right?

Citi has always given me mine via a sp after I ask for a cli within my account.. after I ask for the cli, they approve it and then indicate that it did not affect my credit report..

It's a YMMV situation as I received a CLI on a Chase card six weeks after getting the card and it was a SP. Made the request in a branch thru my banker, never asked if it would be a SP and looked after it was approved, no HP on report just a SP from the day of the request.

99.9% of the time any customer initiated CLI request will result in HP. Citi on the other hand if you log into your account can be be SP . You'll fill out the request and it will say something to effects of it could result in HP. The system will do an auto SP and give you amount you can choose to take and it will say that they did a SP. If you aren't satisfied w/ the amount you can chose to do the HP and state the amount you want, which is done manually by a CSR and you'll recieve a notice saying to check back in an hour to see if you're request is approved.

Be careful with the online CLI request. If they have a line that says you are going to authorize them to make a credit inquiry, don't advance unless you are willing to take a hard pull.

so normally you wouldn't see 4 step screens or you wouldn't see a mention of credit check until after screen 2 if it wasn't instant?

I have never seen the 4 step screens - it was my only CLI attempt with Citi.
