If you can PIF, you could always try getting 1 of their charge cards to see if you're off their blacklist.

How many inquiries do you have on file? If you don't have a lot right now (i.e 2-3 that's falling off soon), you can app now or later. There won't be much difference in the outcome, and these new inquiries will fall off June 2015 instead of November 2015. Your utilization reported on the CRs are low right?

Yeah my utilization is 1% on 33k right now. I think it was about 15 years ago that AMEX got burned and I got a letter from them about 3 years ago stating that even though there was nothing they could do as far as collecting on the old card, that debt would have to be cleared up before they would consider extending credit to me again.

My Equifax and Transunion scores just took a giant leap upwards after my last baddie fell off. I guess I'm

thinking I should apply for a new card as sort of a reward for the much better score that I now have.

I checked to see if I qualified for PenFed and NFCU and I don't so, now I am thinking about US Bank.

Considering that I am probably black-balled with AMEX, what advice can you folks gice me for a nice new card?

I currently have: 2 cards with USAA, 1 each with EECU, Amazon, Sam's, Discover IT and Capital One.

Thanks for the response. I would probably want a low APR and cash back. I don't carry a balance so I guess a card that might give an opening Credit Line that's significant.

Normally, cards that have perks such as cashback tend to have a higher APR than a no rewards card. Since you have the Discover IT already, why not go for the Chase Freedom to broaden your quarterly cashback categories? Do you have any 5k+ credit lines? That typically increases your chances of getting approved for a higher CL.

I don't carry a balance so I guess a card that might give an opening Credit Line that's significant.

for low APR and more generous starting credit limits, your best bet is to join a credit union.

There are lots of good cashback cards. There's US Bank Cash+ Discover IT, Chase Freedom, Citi Thank You (with the 5X Groceries, Gas & Drug Stores offer in branches), Penfed Rewards, and many others to choose from. What do you spend on most?

In 5 mos I will have zero hard inquiries on all 3 CRAs and AAOA will be better. Shoot, I might even hit 750 or better by then. It is sure nice to have a clean file. Not gloating, just excited to be sort of in the drivers seat again.
