It appears to be a program under which the card holder may label certain charges as Pay as you go, but its up to amex whether or not they will approve them as Pay as you go or as a regular charge, which on a charge card would need essentially immediate payment.

I just called Amex though and they told me that any Travel charges will be automatically counted as Pay as You Go through the sign and go program or some such name.

The other caveat is that the charges must be more than 100 dollars and not be things like cash advances, traveller's cheques, casino charges etc etc.

Interest rate is higher then most tier 1 cards by a large margain.

Hi all, My wife just got a letter from Amex stating that she is now enrolled in the new Amex "Pay as you Go" program on her Green card. Yes Green card.

The caveat seems to be that they won't commit to which purchases specifically are going to be approved for the Pay as you Go program. As such I am leery of allowing anything major to be placed on that card since if they don't approve it for the program, its due at the end of the cycle.

She has no preset spending limit and they have her Pay as you Go max capped off atm at 35K.

Anyone know anything else about this new program of theirs? the letter arrived today.

If so, here are the features..

It gives you extra time to pay for eligible purchases of $100 or more over time.

Choose to pay your entire balance in full, your minimum payment due, or any amount in between.

Only pay interest on charges you choose to pay over time

Use one Card for everything and continue to enjoy:

I understand the program allows you to move purchases of $100.00 or more to the Pay Over Time option.. At least this is how it worked when I had my Platinum years ago and I picked and chose what if any transactions over $100.00 that I wanted to move.. And, I was just enrolled for the same program under my PRG..
