topic Closing most recent credit history in Credit Cards

Just recently I brought a house and guess what I've gotten myself into some credit card debt and my rates are outrageous. I am considering debt consolidation, don't worry it is with a reputable company (ccc). I will leave all of my old cards out of the consolidation because I don't want to hurt my score by closing down my history. I have several newer cards 12-24 months old that I really want to include in the consolidation. will closing those hurt my score since the history for these aren't that long? Debt utilization won't matter that much as I am almost maxed out on all that I am referring to. Thanks in advance for your responses

i'm no expert, but closing them and entering into a debt management program could trigger the issuers of the cards you want to keep open to take adverse action (ie close, balance chase, then close, etc).

don't get me wrong. you recognise you have a problem and are willing to take responsability and make the rught tough choices, just want to let you know that the issuers may not stand by you.

good luck.

as for closing the cards. no just closing an account won't have a mesureable impact, unless it has a balance reporting (which in your case they will).
