Capital One Executive Office Success! - UPDATE

I contacted the Capital One Executive Office last week again to see if I could get a CLI on my No-Hassles Reward card and received a modest CLI.

I attempted this back in Feb. and was denied. So I thought I would give it another try last week. I sent an email and two days later received a call. He took my info and asked me how much did I want. My current CLI is $750, so I asked for $1,000 more. I checked online this morning and they gave me $250 increase for a TOTAL CL of $1,000. I'm not sure if he misunderstood me or was that just what they decided to give me...lol, but hey, a ittle is better than nothing. So I will take it! I plan to try again in another six months and will make it clear I am asking for $1,000 or $2,000 more by then.

***UPDATE: Today I received a letter from Captial One saying that my request for a CLI increase had been denied! LOL!!!!! As you can imagine, that puzzled me very much because as I posted earlier, I DID get an increase, just not the amount I wanted and I thought that maybe the CS person misunderstood me, .but this confirms that the CS that called me DID NOT misunderstand what I had asked for (increase of $1,000), but did grant me the modest $250 for a total of $1,0000. So something is better than nothing! Just glad I got SOMETHING out of them. Will try again in six months...LOL!!!!!

Just FYI the reasons stated in the letter: Too many accounts with a balance and too many new revolving accounts (Odd because at the time I submitted this request and saw they SP'd me, my newest account was the BOA Platinum Plus which was opened back in November.) I just opened the AMEX Green and BOA 123 two days ago.

Next time ask for $5k and if they do not approve it, let them counter offer you!!!

Congrats - here's hoping that they will start to loosen their CLI's so going the EO route will not be necessary.

Is your card the cash reward with annual fee? I am planning to request an increase with EO Monday and wonder why they only offered you such a modest one.

OP can correct me if I'm wrong but with a $750 CL, I'm assuming it was an af card. Also they had the No Hassles card not the cash reward card. The No Hassles card has the 2% 2% 1% reward breakdown, and Cap One no longer accepts new apps for it. I was able to keep this when I had my af dropped and got an increase....

Hi there! Yes, it's the old No-Hassles Reward card with the annual fee. I don't think they offer it anymore. It was one of my "rebuilder" cards. They gave me what I asked for, unfortunately I think the guy I spoke to misunderstood me. He asked what I wanted, but I think he may (stress MAY..lol) have misunderstood me. I said $1,000 but meant $1,000 MORE for a total credit limit of $1,750. Of course...I could be wrong and they simply decided on their own to give me the modest $250...LOL! Who knows. I will make sure I am make it more plain when I call again in six months..LOL!

Hi...Yes, it's the annual fee card with the 2% etc reward breakdown. I don't think they offer this one anymore...I think that Green Reward's card took it's place. They never changed mine, i just noticed that it was no longer offered anymore. I've only had it one year and six months.

No, my only goal at the time was the CLI. I will include that next time.
