@s_rob7488 wrote:

So knowing that that's what Chase is trying to do, how can I make the payments on other cards and not have the AA on the other cards? My fico SW says now that my score is 643.....it hasn't ever been that low. Is there any good way to pay other balances or how should I go about paying the chase cards?

I'll chose to ignore the comment on vacation. It was a belated honeymoon since my wife was ill for 2 months when we got married and I had already purchased airline tickets over a year ago that were paid for. We've just spent too much money. It hasn't been necessarily on just the vacation, we just need to get back to our budget and stick to it.

Right now your best bet is to talk to Chase recon. Explain it to them the reasons why you think you got a CLD and you understand the situation you're in, and that you will work towards bringing down your entire CC debt. They might be willing to work with you and cut a deal, i.e. pay xxx amount over this period of time and they'll stop chasing balances temporarily for a period of time before they re-evaluate you again in a few months. It's going to be a YMMV situation with how that turns out, but it's always worth a try.

As for the other cards, just pay them down starting from the highest APR and go in decreasing order. You will need to pay a lot more than just the minimum payment to try avoid further AA. What you want to show all your lenders is that you're tackling your debt problem seriously. The bank with the lowest APR may be only receiving a little more than the minimum payment, but at least when they SP your file they'll able to see that you are handling your debt problem.

Basically like what CreditScholar said, their main priority right now is to make sure you pay them back. If your actions can convince them that there's a high chance of you not defaulting on them, you're going to be okay.

@CreditScholar, thanks

Sorry to hear that. Has anything changed recently on your credit reports? Any negative items, high balances on other cards, excessive inquiries, or many new accounts opened? I would definitely be calling to find out why they made that decision, and recon if possible. Maybe get the notice first and call.

Given how many balances you're carrying on various cards, you deserved the CLD. You're around 50% util for the majority, so I'm not surprised Chase CLDed you. They're probably nervous looking at your reports, figuring that your probability of paying them all down is fairly low.

I try not to judge people here, since there are many circumstances that lead people to get into credit card debt. But I advise you to take a step back and use this opportunity to realize that you are in debt, and to figure out a plan to get these balances down as fast as possible. Hopefully you have income to make that happen sooner rather than later.

Just look at it this way - you are throwing away tons of money on interest for everything you buy on your credit cards. Is everything you buy worth paying extra for?

If you were carrying all those other balances aside from the Freedom and then charged 3-4K without making a large dent in the other cards, you spooked Chase. To a bank that is going to indicate high risk behavior. They likely think you can't handle your finances. I agree with the above post, you should re-evaluate your current situation and start making a significant dent in those cards before other lenders start worrying. (And your 8K-ish CLD will not go unnoticed.)

Csp since april 12 free since july 12 but was a swrr prior that was from april 12 also. Im in over my head. I was doing extremely well score wise and bal/util wise. Now, not so good. Need the cards paid off and to remain in the safe. I've been in this situation before and told myself I'd never go back. I guess plan is to start with smallest balance and pay off and progressively get to largest. Is it stupid to dip into my 401k for quick cash?

Im in over my head. I was doing extremely well score wise and bal/util wise. Now, not so good. Need the cards paid off and to remain in the safe. I've been in this situation before and told myself I'd never go back. I guess plan is to start with smallest balance and pay off and progressively get to largest. Is it stupid to dip into my 401k for quick cash?

If I were you and this is just an attempt to help

Stop using your cards for now.

Weigh your options for BT's

Pay whatever you can off

I have to ask as to get myself and others the info to help you so please excuse my probing... Have you been moving the balances around via BT's?
