Scary Experience w/ EQ. BECAREFUL.

Today, I found out, after pulling my reports that my credit profile is still split!!!

I called EQ, since I recently pulled a report from them to work through it. After an hour they said they would "re-invesitigate" it. The reason it wasn't merged before is because it is "too long." I said that is impossible and really both reports have the same accounts. One just has a - different...wrong...city - and is missing my closed accounts...so really they just need to delete it not "merge."

After a long discussion, they finally said it will take about 45 days to re-investigate. (normally they say that, but it normally takes 5 days with e-mail notification option)

Now here comes the SCARY part!!!

Right before hanging up the phone, the guy tries selling me Equifax's credit monitoring service, after telling me all the benefits I tell him politely "no" and share with him that I use myFICO and credit secure. He then says myFICO pulls hard inquiries sometimes when checking your report. I know this is a COMPLETE lie...but he assures me it is true. I still politely tell him "no and thanks." He then goes on to say, "If you sign up with our service today I will make sure they fix your problem." I ask him, "how?" He says he guarantees me it will all be "merged." I said, "if that is the case, I will try out the service after all is fixed." He said, "hold on a minute sir." After a few moments he came back and said sir, "I assure you we will have fixed in 3 days rather 45 days if you buy the EQ credit monitoring service." Is that legal?

I told him I will try out the evaluation service in 3 days then. He then said, "well give me your credit card info and I will add the service in 3 days." I told him "no." He then said, "I assures you it will be okay and I will get my username and password via e-mail instantly." I finally told him "thank you and good bye"...I then hung up!!!

That was scary...I'm now afraid he is going to intentionally screw up my report with EQ!!! And I can't believe he lied about myFICO like that. I also can't believe he asked for my CC info...he was not going to wait 3 days! Everyone BECAREFUL!!!

I also have a split credit file with EQ. I've called them to have it fixed 3 times now and it keeps getting split again. I even faxed them a copy of my birth certificate and drivers license and it's still split.

It seems like when I dispute something it becomes unsplit, then after some certain amount of time they split it again.

They said it's because some stuff is reporting with my name suffix of II, and some is reporting just as my last name. This shouldn't be my problem. Working with EQ is like beating my head on a brick wall!

The same thing caused my split last time re: suffix...I hate EQ...I never have this problem with TU or EX.

Neither have I. Why does EQ have problems with something they should be good at?

After complaining about this issue several times, I finally took advantage of it. Since my derogs were on the one listed as II, I applied at Citi and left the suffix off. Sure enough, they pulled the clean one and I was approved for $6000.

The derogs have since been removed, so now I want it to be not split so creditors can see my full credit profile with my car and mortgage and CCs.

I wouldn't be surprised about anything I hear concerning Equifax. Those people are some kind of weird. I had a California Tax Lien that was erroneously being reported on my report. I finally got the Franchise Tax board of Cal. to send me a release and a statement that the lien was placed in error. But it took Equifax 2 months longer than TU or EX to remove it from my CR. Equifax even verified that the lien was valid a month and a half after it was released. And weird stuff started popping up on CR for a few weeks after that. I got the number to some executive in Atlanta and she got it fixed real quick. I'll look for it and if I find it I'll PM it to ya. I hope I can find it because I know she can help you. BRB...lol

I PMed it to you. That is the Corporate Secretary's Office of Equifax. The number and the names are correct. I'll bet you after you talk to the lady I sent you the name of, there will be no more problems. She seemed to get a kick out of the fact that I couldn't understand the "Indian People" LOL. When she helped me, it was less than 2 hours and poof, everything was as it should have been. Let me know how it turns out.

I'm sure that she can help you. That thingy about the CSR at Equifax saying that he could fix your problem right away if you bought their service is scary as heck!!!!! I think that Reps in the dispute departments shouldn't be trying to sell you anything. They ought to be working on disputes!! Just my opinion. lol

i thought it was me. a couple of years ago i wanted to cancel my scorewatch and actually had an argument because they didn't want me to cancel. Shortly after that some bogus info appeared on my report. Then went away. But they are still my lowest score to date.

I'm pretty sure that "clique" they have at the Equifax disputes department needs to be broken up. I've personally had them screw with my file. I'll never get them to admit it, but i know.!! Just look at my EQ score....

Yeah, it's terrifying the kind of people (a majority, not everyone) they have "managing" the database that affects so much of our lives!!
