NFCU Membership? SP or HP ??

Hi all.

I just joined NFCU on the 19th but I only see a SP listed on EQ. Is that normal? I thought I was reading somewhere that they did a HP? I do see 2 SPs though.

I got a hardpull when I joined.. but that was 3 years ago so who knows... if it was only a sp, just be happy!!

I received a SP to join and HP for all the products. ALL the products.

They are certainly pull happy....so expect a HP anytime you app for anything or request CLI.

Also they did a HP on me when I joined.

Interesting...I checked my CR and it shows a SP on TU. However, their CC's are a HP. I am AD military and I wonder if it's Sp for AD vs. HP for non-AD members. Posters please share your experience. Thanks!

Yeah I app'd in march for membership and when I pulled myFICO TU at the end of may, it came up as a HP.

Both membership and CC's were HP's for me....and knowing NFCU they are probably going to HP everyone that has responded to this thread!!

Probably so...I think it was pilotdude that posted a spoof conversation log with the NFCU CSR for CLI. "One HP for calling, another for asking for CLI, another for thinking of NFCU and another for thanking NFCU"

HP on TU for membership.

The better question shouldn't be about AD vs non-AD, but whether or not one is opted out.

I am more curious if we can nail down whether or not being opted out matters or not, because I am sure being AD has no bearing.

I am opted out, and I got HP'ed. Anyone else wanna share their SP vs HP and opt-out vs not opted out?

Opting out won't affect a creditor's ability to HP your report ~ it only stops the CRAs from selling your info for promotional / marketing purposes.

Understandable.

My thinking is, if someone doesn't have an existing relationship with a creditor, in this case NFCU, and he/she is opted out, then a would be SP for membership only, would then have to be a HP -- since no existing relationship exists and no SP PP.

Otherwise, I still don't understand why I got HP'ed and others got SP'ed when we are only talking about membership. I feel robbed =/ lol

Yeah, i don't believe there is a way for creditors to know if you're opted out or not ~ it's just something between you and the CRAs.

I'm pretty sure that almost everyone gets a HP ~ there may a few exceptions, but this happens with every credit union when you apply for membership. They always do a HP.

Hmm...lets try this route. My wife was already a member (she is not military) and I got membership through her . Maybe that's why it was a SP.

I applied to Join NFCU on 11-22-2013. I just pulled EQ and see a SP from NFCU on record for same date. I have not checked other CRAs yet, but I also have not been accepted or app'ed for any products.

I also have a FA on all 3 CRAs since Oct 30, 2013 for 90 days. which may or may not help in this situation. Will verify with EXP and TU shortly and update if i see any other pulls for applying for membership.
