Lost Chase app?

I was talking to a friend who had applied for one of the Chase hotel cards through the Chase website. He got the 30 day message, and I suggested trying recon since I had success with that last year with my Chase Freedom. Anyway, he told me that Chase could not locate his app anywhere when he tried calling in. This was 1-2 days after he first applied. He can call the 800 number and hear the same "30 day message," but recon cannot locate it. The agent told him they should see it, and that he might want to think about re-applying if it's not there soon.

Anyone ever seen this, I'm at a loss as to what advise to give other than that I don't think a second application is a good idea...

I've never heard of that happening. Did he possibly input his SSN in incorrectly?

that I don't know...but if that was the case, why would the automated phone line include a 30 day message....

Yeah my instict is that there must be some sort of flag...but still, the recon dept should see that app to some degree, esp if it's showing up on the automated line.

Ask him if any INQ's showed up on his CR's? If they can't find it then he should have them remove them, especially if he has to apply again.

Fittiger +1 check his crs if any inquiry about his app. If there is and chase still cant find it then ask them to remove inq n reapply gl

Sometimes it says FIRST USA, not just CHASE on the inq

I will try and find out about the INQ. Still mysterious as to why it has that message on the auto line, yet the analysts can't find it. It's be one thing if it was just entirely lost, but that's just bizarre

Update...

My buddy called the RECON line this morning and still no app...they advised to re-apply, and that if there was a second inquiry they would delete it. He did re-app, and got the approval 7-10 message. He called in the number to verify everything, and they ensured him that they only checked credit today. It seems to have worked out, but still very strange

Wow, so, he got 2 HP but one will be deleted by chase? that's not bad.
