Does anyone know who beneficial national bank is?? could it be part of hsbc or cap 1, I have recently applied and was accepted for those cards. I just rec'd a scorewatch report stating that I have a new account...

Beneficial is HSBC, but I don't think they issue CCs.

Did you receive an installment loan recently?

Nope. No loans for me. The whole listing is weird...

I agree, this is very strange. Beneficial is owned by HSBC and has nothing to do with Cap1. Yet that would be quite a coincidence that this new account has the same last four as your new Cap1 account.

Is the new Cap1 card reporting yet?

The "Charge" description means it's either a PIF charge card or a store card, which makes this even stranger.

Looking at Beneficial's website, it appears they only offer installment loans. They have links to CCs on their site, but they are all the standard HSBC products (HSBC Platinum, Orchard, etc.).

I'm stumped. Stay tuned, and I'll see if I can get some help on this.

Oh my, store card, I did get approved for a Best Buy store card, I forgot about that one. That one would be a HSBC card as well, wouldnt it be quite a coincidence if it had the same 4 numbers?? I havent gotten it in the mail yet tho to verify. Im probably not going to be able to sleep tonight now.. lol

Beneficial also offers LOCs. Perhaps they gave a pre-approved offer. But, where is your loot?

OK, so the mystery MAY be solved. But I still wonder why your BB store card would report as Beneficial. To my knowledge, those are two distinct arms of HSBC.

Yes, they do, but also mortgage refinancing and HELOCs, too. I never knew that they were involved in BB store cards. I thought that was just the main branch of HSBC.

I don't know if this helps or not, but this address and phone number is the same as the HSBC listing on my current reports for a very old Best Buy account.

Edit: Well sounds like while I was digging through reports and checking the 2003 reference to Beneficial on mine ... you got closer to solving the mystery.

Thank You, This relieves my mind greatly Dawn, and thanks for the link to the older post Cheddar, I just got done reading thru it. I hope they dont start sending me checks for LOC, I cant get rid of citi financial now as it is. It seems Beneficial/BB store card likes to pull inquiries on EX, that is the only one I dont have any monitoring for, I didnt even see it coming. lol

I know how that goes ... I resort to Benadryl until I can't walk ... then head back to bed. Of course ... that doesn't stop the snoring that is going on in there right now ... I'm not sure what to do about that!

I also have recently gotten an alert saying I had a new account with this bank. I cannot find a working number for the company to even try to dispute it. The numbers that did work said that they were not the same bank, just a similar name. I am concerned that this is a fraudulent account. Anyone know more about this company. They are part of hsbc, but the last four of the account number is different than for my hsbc account numbers. Thanks.

Sometimes CRs will show scrambled/fake acct numbers rather than showing the actual number. Reports pulled directly from EQ, EX and TU should show the actual acct numbers.
