AFAIK it's a Visa only; though in my estimation that does nothing to detract from from it's place as the best secured product currently on the market.

A secured credit card uses money you place in a security deposit account as collateral. Your credit line is based on your income, ability to pay and the amount of your cash collateral deposit.

Believe it or not, it's not just a Visa. I know for a fact that once you get the secured Visa, you can product change to any of the Bankamericards AND the AMEX acelerated rewards. I don't know for sure, but I think it's possible to call the application number and request what secured card you want. Either way, you could certainly get the Mastercard 'better rewards' card.. however, i don't know if you'll get all the feautres as you would with it if it was an unsecured card.

I have yet to see a BofA Visa credit card that doesn't have a Mastercard version. I don't have an official answer though; talking with BofA would be the only way to find out.

The benefits are still going to be the same, except less places are going to accept the card.

From the way I see it, it's all cons no pros.

Why? Since I made the same decision.. I know why! haha : )

Personally, I just like AMEX more. I know it's not an AMEX, just run on the AMEX network.. but it just brings some diversity to my wallet. Until my bankruptcy is off, I won't be able to obtain a real AMEX.. so things like this are my only option.. Besides, since the AMEX network charges fees a lot higher than Visa and Mastercard to the merchants.. when they really piss me off, I like to pay with my AMEX. Makes me smile a little inside..

Yeah. I did it through chat too! I first PC'd from the regular cash rewards card to a travel rewards card when it was still a secured card.. then after it was converted, I PC'd to the AMEX.. takes about 3 weeks to come in the mail.. but I did it mainly because I like the way the card looks better too haha
