I got a Freedom in April of this year. Then 2 weeks ago I applied for a Sapphire card and was approved after a recon call.

Originally I really wanted the CSP, but I talked myself out of it because of the AF. Plus I doubted myself, and figured I had a better chance at the CS. The thing is, since getting the CS I learned the approval criteria for both CS and CSP is the same. So I could have gotten the CSP.

Plus I didn't know CSP allows you to combine points with Freedom, which is worth the AF for me. I feel I made a mistake getting the CS instead of CSP, but I’m not sure how to fix it. I know, I should have done more research before applying

Is there anything I can do now? Should I apply for a CSP now? Or do I let the CS age a bit, and then try for the CSP next year? Is there a chance Chase could do a PC from CS to CSP.

I sort of made the same mistake between two chase cards a couple weeks ago. I opened slate 12/12 and apped for freedom a couple weeks ago. I wished I had applied for their speedway rewards card. However with chase, and I assume most cc companies, you have to wait 30 days between apps. Im debating applying for that card next month.

You could always request a product change. Let me know how it goes if you decide to app for the CSP, or otherwise what else happens...

Going from a card with no AF to one with always raises the possibility that you will be told the CARD Act requires you wait 13 months. Some have got around this, many haven't. The issuer may tell you to just apply for the right card. If you don't mind the probable HP, with Chase this might be OK as they make moving CL around easy.

I was trying to save the OP some time/trouble.

I think some people have this misconception of what the card services executive office at Chase actually is; it's not some super exclusive team sitting next to Jamie Dimon that's only "worthy" of being bothered for super special requests, it's just a slightly better trained team that has more authority to make certain changes. The OP's type of request is exactly what the executive office is there to help with.
