GE max card amount??

Does GE have a maximum on how many cards they will approve you for at a time? They approved me for AE and JC Penny but denied me for Toys R Us...what gives?? I know a couple months ago they approved me for an Old Navy Credit Card and I've had a Walmart card with them for a year now. Any thoughts? It appears that it may be two at a time or something...i really don't know.

Good question. I'd like to know the answer for this one. Perhaps they won't approve because it's too many too fast.

Some have posted success in getting more than 2 during a spree without any problems. However, some have also been approved for multiple ccs and when gong to activate the cc's they were all closed.

Personally, I have only gone the 2 at a time route.

they approved 4 cards for me in 1 week. total 6 GE account

GE has been a little flaky lately the past yr on new accounts.

IMO I would go no more than 2 in a 6 month span.

Last year my sister got approved for 4 GE accts, and after 5th app the denials started to come up.

Yeah, I did 4 in a day last September. Had to call in to verify who I was after the 2nd approval and had some very personal questions to answer. Added a 5th GE account this past Spring with no issues and will probably try to add another after my 4 accounts from September age to 1 year.

I went on an app spree post-home closing in April and got the following GE cards in a two-day span:

Ashley Furniture - instant approval online

AE VISA - instant approval online

Toys R Us MC - had to call in for this one

TJ Maxx MC - instant approval online

Amazon - instant approval online

Shop NBC MC - they called me to verify this one...weird

Lowes - instant approval online

All $1,000+ limits...all still open with those limits to this day (Though to be fair, I have only used the Lowes card to date )

Edited to add:

For those interested in a Lowes card, whatever the initial limit they give you is, they day you want to make a significant purchase (lawnmower, lots of paint...whatever), call the backdoor number and ask them to bump up your limit...no matter how long you have had the card. They initially gave me $1,500. I called them telling them I had closed our house and was buying a riding lawn mower and needed an increase so as to not eat up all my available credit.

She asked me how much i needed. I said $5,000 would be ideal. She immediately upped it to $5,000. I had the card for maybe a month up to that point

I was approved for a Chevron, Gap, Walmart, and Lowes card in two days with scores in the low 600's.

I have 5 cards with them right now. Two were obtained right after the other after getting preapproval letters.

I then got another 3 in one day through a cold app.

They are still sending me pre-approvals for some of their other cards but there are for places I don't really want.

I do want to try for the TJX CC in a couple months though...I like TJ Maxx and Marshalls...lol.

I have spread all of mine out. The only one I want that I don't have is Lowes and I will apply after I close. I'm hoping for $5000 (at least on recon) as I will need to buy a fridge, washer, dryer and lawnmower.

I did Walmart, CareCredit and Amazon all on the same day (February 2013). They were all approved for 600, 1k and 750 (respectively). They are now 750, 2.6k and 1.1k all auto CLI shortly after 4 months. I've since added Lowe's in a moment of weakness, I wish I didn't. :-(

The most GE I've added in a short span was 2. I had a JCP card since 11/2012. When I learned that Amazon was GE, I figured my odds were good there, so I cold apped on 7/21 and got $700 CL (which was my highest initial CL in a long time!). I got a pre-approved for Wally in the mail shortly thereafter and got $300 on 8/9. I figured with that limit, GE was a bit antsy, so I decided to pick up two Comenity cards before moving into the Garden.

I got Chevron 700, Paypal Mc 2000 and Amazon 1200 within 2-3 days of eachother, then app'ed World Market and it was denied with a 652 fico; this was early 2012.
