Credit Card Cult?

Today while i was reading over my credit reports and checking the mailbox DH walks by and says "what are u up to today? Talking to your cult?"(LOL) Funny thing is everyday i find myself waking up with the intention of learning something new on this site. I am 7.5 months pregnant and on bedrest, so what better time to get more info. I was one of the ones who went thru credit repair and paid stupid money for a company to do nothing for me. In the end a learned a lesson and I learned about this site and TC. When I started this journey my scores were 475TU 495EQ and 511EX. That was 3/07. I had so many baddies and collections I stopped counting. No installments or mortgage loans only a Target card that i was preapproved for in 12/06 with a $300 limit.

As of 3/08 I made a change in lifestyle and made many calls to CA's and CRAs. I have 4 collection accounts, 2 of which i just DV'd "cuz they ain't mine". The other 2 are PIF, which should have been PFD'd so I disputed them today. Two of my reports only have 2 collections and they are the same ones that I DV'd. TU wants to keep all of them for some reason, but we'll get past them soon enough.I recently went on an Apping spree and with 14 new inquiries came 8 new cards:
Best Buy= $400
Citi Cash rewards= $1000
Hooters= $500
Kay's= $3000
Macy's= $300
Walmart= $150
children's place= $500
Gap= $500

At the beginning of 3/08 my scores were 653TU, 638EX, and 632EQ. I know i'm gonna take a huge hit, but i have one CO due to fall of 4/08 and I'm done apping for anything. Thanx to this forum, all you wonderful people who don't mind sharing, I am no longer "afraid" or "intimidated" by this world of credit. So to DH i say "better a credit cult than a "Playstation 3 online convention".

LOL, that's great!!! My husband is the same way,he says I'm a pro at obsessing. But I'm also a die hard fan of manga (Japanese comic books). DH says my conversations jump from FICO scoring and APRs to the current chapters of Bleach, Gantz and Naruto. Oh well, he has his NASCAR that I have to contend with. Oh, and thank you for your post. Wow! I guess its the DH thinking that talking abut the forum and FICO scores is a FAD. I told my DH its a new lifestyle. I recently wrote 6 GW letters for him. Sometimes I catch myself speaking in acronyms and I see the funny faces he makes. He said what the heck is GW,CL, APR and others we utilize.

He said you've only been on the site for a few weeks and your nuts!! I said know I have become more savy in the age of a recession. We need to get our credit inline with a REAL wallet dollars...He laughed!!!!

I do that, too!!! It is so much easier to say "PIF" instead "Paid In Full". And your hubby laughs now, but in a couple of years when you guys are getting prime cards and low interest rate on everything from cars to a house he'll appreciate your hard work.

Congrats on the baby, the new cards and the improved scores!

I have a 3.5 yo DD, and I like to shop at BabyGap and Children's Place also, specifically, their clearance sale sections. Those labels tend to resell well at consignments, throw in the store card perks and it's amazing how the discounts add up.

Nicki, I know exactly what you mean! DH asked me why I was fretting over one of my cards reaching the 30% util mark. I was freaking out. Told him about utils....he just rolled his eyes and said good grief, shook his head, and continued watching Battlestar Gallactica. Some people just don't get it.
