Question about Prepayment...

One quick question I have is that I am going to make a pretty big purchase aroun the next month, $2k... I am able to prepaid the amount before even making the purchase? I am asking this because I don't normally charge more than 600 in a month and since I will be charging 2k+ in a day I don't want to spook the lenders for abnormal usage pattern. I am asking specially for chase because I plan to use my CSP to rack the points.

So can I call in to make a prepayment on the amount I am going to charge?

I don't really see a reason why you would want to prepay. I charged about 80% of my Freedom when I got it and PIF few days later, had no problems. I think the lenders want you to use the card. It's ok to charge and PIF after the purchase. You won't even be close to maxing out with a $2000 purchase.

I'm not sure if you can...if ur balance is pretty low and prepay 2k I doubt it'll accept it. What I would do is charge the 2k and then when it posts just pay it. Hopefully that's before you due date

If you are concerned - push a pyt through your bank . You shouldn't be concerned, You are well within your CL.

I am planning to charge 90-95pct of the CL on my CSP, gonna be buying 4 airline tickets and a new sofa. I'm just worry because I never had any very high spending in my chase card( in one day) before and since my CSP is fairly new I don't wanna be rejected that's why, I want to make a prepayment if I could...do you guys think I can go to a branch and have them transfer roughly $9300 from my checking into my CSP?

Just call and let then know you are going to make a large purchase. Push the PYT through your acct - on a new acct they will probably hold your cl until they know its cleared.

You can use your bank's bill pay to transfer however much you want/need/have to your credit card account, don't need to go to a branch. (With some issuers this does increase available credit, with a few it doesn't. For those, if your CL is 7.5K, you cannot charge more, even if your account has a credit balance.

But 90-95pct will be fine, this is what most outside of these forums will do. Yes, it impacts your credit score that month if the statement posts with that balance, but that is temporary.

I don't think you'll have a problem. Who doesn't have to make a large purchase once in a while? Since your purchase will be for airfare, it will look completely normal. Just make sure you pay off the balance all at once if possible.

Like others have said, just call your bank and let them know you're making those purchases.

If not, it's always never too late to call them right after the charge is denied.

Don't worry about prepaying. It's a credit card afterall.
