HSBC/Cap1 who's who?

I have a charge-off account w/ HSBC under it says Cap1. Did they acquire HSBC? If so, will Cap1 deny me for a secured CC? I also had a charge-off w/ Cap1
several years ago (more than 8 years ago) and it's not on any of my reports?

How long is Cap1's credit memory? Do they blacklist?

The HSBC charge-off DoFD 8/11 last payment 10/11 $0 balance sold
Still w/in SOL since it was 2011

Yes. Cap One acquired HSBC.

As for HSBC charge off, it is hard to say what happened. Depends on what exactly Cap One bought. If debt had been sold to third party, I doubt C1 is even aware of it.

As for C1, I think they have fairly long memory. I am sure they still know about your old C1 chargeoff. But I don't know that C1 blacklists as agressively as others.

Curious what happens in any case.

Might want to call EO and just ask about what their systems say about you. Make up some excuse as to why you need to know. Also, might want to ask if you are blacklisted.

I have a paid collections from Cap1 in 2009, they gave me another card in 2012 and now i have 3 total from them. I dont think they blacklist very long if at all. There are others who have been approved shortly after a BK.

Cap One doesn't blacklist. I burned them for two credit cards and a car loan which had a $12K balance in my 2010 BK7. I started my rebuilding with them in 2011 with a secured card then a platinum MC. They also refinanced another car loan for me in 2012 .

pretty much yeah you'll have 4 cap 1 cards
and they won't convert for you

Now, I have to figure out which CA has my account. I didn't see it on my CRs. I will check again. My intentions are to send out a PFD. I will contact EO as suggested before attempting to apply for the secured C1 card. I don't want to risk the hp if the probability of being denied is pretty high. I am repairing & rebuilding so I don't want to risk it. I need two more secured CC options. NFCU is plan A. C1 was plan B but now I'm so sure....

If you are blacklisted, you will be denied without HP usually as they check their blacklist first.

Thanks for the useful information.

I will forgo contacting EO and just apply. Either, I'll get the card or not...I figured out that my HSBC account was sold to Cavalry. I have a PFD ready to go. I'll wait for the results of the PFD before I apply.
