Hi everyone,

So I was thinking about asking my dad to add me as an AU to his AMEX Costco card but when I asked whether or not he's missed payments, he replied with "many times". This scared me away since I did not want to have a bad credit history added to my own but I still wanted that AMEX membership date.

Is there a way to be added as an AU to secure a membership date that can be later used when I open my own AMEX card (to increase my AAoA) then quickly closely the AU before it reports to the credit bureaus on my credit report???

Thanks

I thought they do backdate AUs/ACMs, but they backdate to the year the AU/ACM is added, not to the member since date of the primary cardholder.

@bribro

You are correct.

OP

Not sure what you are trying to do. It sounds like you want to jump on and off before it hits your cr. if so, why go through all of that and pick a card with better history, get your credit established and then apply?
