I don't think it really matters which one you apply for. It would appear from their website that after you start filling in the information, it will pre-approve you for the offer you are going to get.

And remember: secured counts toward improving your credit score, so if it's all you can get, and you can afford the collateral, go for it!

Right now I have hooters 1100cl cap1 1000 cl cap1 1100 cl discover-direct rewards 800 cl HSBC 500 cl. Do you guys think I need to get an Orchard card? Are they generous with CL's?

No, they're not. Expect initial CL of $300-$500 and a card that won't grow with you.

I can't decide between first premier or orchard. I want a card to grow with me. Any good experiences?

Neither of those will grow with you.

If the decision is between those two, I'd pick Orchard. First Premier charges some outrageous fees, which Orchard doesn't do.

Why not go for a BOA secured instead of an Orchard?? you may have to pay up front but it will grow with you and eventually go unsecured, plus it will be a prime card. BOA secured AF is $29 i believe, an Orchard AF will likely be much more. After a year BOA will go unsecured (as long as your good to the card) and you wont have an AF at that time. I think all Orchard cards have an AF. (could be wrong tho)

I see those cards as being for people who have absolutely no chance at getting a decent card from somewhere.....you already have cards that can get you into a better one later....just stick with those. If I remember counting right, you already have 3, don't keep opening sub-prime accounts, it makes no sense.

Orchard's not quite like First Premier and the like, where you pay something like $250 in fees in order to get a $300 limit. The AFs on Orchard Cards are usually pretty reasonable. Orchard Secured has an AF of $35, for example. That's it. No other fees at all.

As stated before, though, if you want a card that will grow with you, Orchard is not a good choice. BofA Secured (if you qualify) is a much better choice.

I agree totally with Cheddar.

A BoA secured card is a great way to build credit, go unsecure in 1 year's time, get your security deposit back, and a card that will grow with you, as your scores continue to improve.
