so I'm new player here and i want to get into the credit game a little better. i wrote a previous topic called questions about cards and credit... i really want to establish myself with credit and all... so i'm beginning to take it seriously.. i've been reading the posts and picked up some knowledge .. so i'm somewhere in the ballpark... somewhere ... well here's my story :

i've recently paid off my charge-off in june .... no bad debt every since.. its the ONLY baddie i have on my CR ... i'm 28 in october...( feels like i'm on a dating game telling all you guys this here ... ) now.. since then... in late july or early august ( i can't remember ) ... i've obtained a secured card... ( first progress, 1k limit ) score jumped up from 629 EX / TU- EQ 629 to the scores i have on my sig ... now i really want to start practicing and maintaining good credit , i love reading the topic updates upon here ...i want to start harvesting so i can be in the garden one day ... which got me interested ... any suggestions, thoughts or advice ... they are very welcomed... i want to shoot for another card , i wanted to CLI my first progress to 2k..but you have to have the card for at least 6 months .. so =( .

I would start with some GE cards. Try Walmart to start, maybe Lowes and a store card then STOP! If you get a Wally card check your credit every month, start slow and they will grow with you. My 2 cents

So you have only had the secured card a month or two?

You should wait until that account is at least six months old. Preferably a year. Then app for some other cards. Walmart, Paypal Extras, Chase Freedom, Discover it, etc are what come to mind. More entry level type of cards. Right now all you have is one secured card that is only a month old. I doubt anybody would approve anything other then another secured.

What type of account was the charge off? That was only paid two months ago. You have only had a credit card for about a month and it's secured. That's just not going to be enough history for other banks. If you were to get approved for any ge cards right now they would almost definitely be very low limits and just the store cards. No Visa, MC, Discover, or Amex versions.

Use the card you have for 6 months

@Keep UTL @ 1-9% for max scoring

Monitor scores you should see movement in the next 2 months.

Keep working on any baddies during that 6 month period for possible extra scoring

BTW you can start gardening now for 6 months with the Garden Club

Check in and say hello they will help you get new cards when the time is right

I would agree with D-Wall. OP - your CR file/history is way too new to provide any potential lenders (on an unsecured basis) any leverage for approval.

i'm only gardening with one card .... guess its better than nothing ... i have to check the criteria for gardening but you think i could get a gardener thingy in my sig ( spade / plant seeding ) ...? that'll be cool / nice ...

ight i've decided to wait the 6 months as instructed ... thanks everyone for your support and advice....nothing i can do now but sit back and let the seedling grow for awhile ... i've made the right choice ... sit back ... and wait ... no apps no nothing...for 6 months....preferably a year ... but 6 months ...
