New to this .. need help

I'm trying to get some issues solved during my credit card app search.

1) Applied for a Chase Freedom card online. Followed up almost immediately with call to Reconsideration #. After being asked questions to prove identity, I was told that my application was given a "credit recommendation" and that I should fax proof of address and DOB. (I sent Driver's License) Then I called to confirm receipt of fax. Was told to wait a few days in order for the fax to be reviewed. Anyone have this experience, know if being given a "credit recommendation" sounds positive?

2) What are Credit Scores needed for Discover ... Costco or Delta AMEX?

3) My TU Fico is 689. My 3 Credit Bureau #s are 750-760. what kind of credit do I have?

You should be good for Discover and Costco Amex probably.

What current credit do you have though?

any baddies?

how long of credit history?

Chase Amazon Visa (current) ... Chase/Best Buy (Chase stopped relation with B Buy) Mortgage (current) ... Gold Card, JCP, (authorized by wife) ... All accounts are paid on time. According to myFICO, my oldest account is 22yrs 3mos, and most recent late payment is 4yrs, 8 mos.

Is my credit considered Average, Good ???

What about income? Do you have a pretty solid income?

That can help if you are borderline credit wise.

I think most cards no longer ask for household income.

$30k might be okay for some parts of the countries, but in more expensive cities that might be a limiting factor.

From what you're saying it sounds like it should be good but it seems odd that you had to call for recon. Seems like something is being overlooked to me. Don't just look at scores. When was the last time you reviewed your reports? What's your utiulization like? You always have to take your entire credit picture into consideration -- not just one single factor.

Thanks Takeshi. Actually, I called immediately after applying online for the Freedom card just to see if I could expedite process. (I was never denied.) The first guy said he would help by getting the analyst onto the call. The analyst asked a few security questions, then after three minutes came back and said that my application had been given a "credit recommendation". (I should have asked what this meant.) He then said I should fax (which I did) proof of address and DOB. I now await.

I actually reviewed my scores today. FICO/Credit Agency: EQ 689/764 TU 689/758 EX 683/766

What do you think about what Chase said? ... and how do you think my Credit Score looks? After I get decision from Chase, I am considering Costco/Amex.
