Be professional. Remember, no body wants to read a essay providing the same information that could have been covered in a paragraph. Be as short and possible while providing a clear reason for the CLI. It also might not hurt to throw in a compliment, but also state that you are not satisfied with your current standing within the company.

Don't forget to ask for an APR reduction. It's not necessary to ask for a PC but to say you want a cc with rewards/better features.
As far as telling them why, be honest. If you've been a customer for years and your CL has not grown with your improved cr/other cards - then let them know you want this to be your 'go to card' but the CL is restricting usage.

I haven't had the card a full year yet. I am mainly wanting the CLI to have more available credit. Right now between 5 cards I only have $1950 total available credit.

I am creeping up on the 600 mark score wise. My improvement has been very very slow. GW's and DV's and the like just aren't working out for me. My biggest improvement I feel like has been my CC's and a couple things that have fallen off recently.

I'm way too impatient lol. I just had a 30 day late removed as well, but not sure if it was off when they pulled my report. Citi's problem with me is a collection acct that is reporting. 1 CRA removed it, 1 left it, and the verdict isn't in on the last CRA. Their EO is moving slow for me. I dealt with Chase's EO regarding something else and they were super fast.

I had my oldest cap1 card since 2004, but since the love button worked on it, I didn't ask for more. I'll wait till my reports look better to ask again.

Oh and utilization before paying down was between 10-17% of my total credit limits, depending upon when they pulled the report. One of my cards reported a huge balance a few days before I PIF'd, but was reporting $0 prior to that.. I haven't had a problem being denied for utilization in awhile even though 3 cards were nearly maxed....I have a thick file though, or at least I feel like I do.

Just want to add asking for a CLI through the EO should be done once your cr profile has improved and all other avenues have been exhausted. EO should be reserved for customers with a seasoned pyt history and a vastly improved credit profile.
