So I get these checks and wondering if I could deposit in my checking account and use it for something else? Anyone with info?

It depends. Read the Terms & Conditions that came along with the checks, and if uncertain, call your CCC to confirm. Depending on the lender, some checks can only be used for BTs for the promotional APR while others allow a deposit to your checking/savings with a different rate. Some include different checks with different terms, and others can also specify that you can use it for everyday purchases, BTs, home projects, balance consolidation, the kitchen sink, etc.

I Read the Terms & Conditions of BT check and all it says is that I cant use the check to pay them(Company that issued the check).I guess I have to call them and ask.

Any special terms with bt? 0% etc. if not, cash advance works for cash, but bad for cash in long term

i know my Apple Barclay card ones literally say "write yourself a check! Make home improvements! Make a fun purchase!"

USAA lets me use checks any purhase. One year 0% apr. Subject to avaliable credit of coarse.

Most of them are the bt rate, but you gotta read that fine print and thoroughly analyze the t&c!

I have used them from citi to pay contractors that dont take cards or that have charges to take cards. I do have a 3% fee for using them, but then have either 12 or 18 months at zero to pay them off. Would not use them for every day things because of the fees, but for bigger planned things i think they can have a place in the credit mix. I just had my house rewired (had nasty old aluminum wiring) and my electrician got a citi check from me.
