How hard is it to get Nordstrom Visa Card?

I am not apping for one. I am just asking. How hard is it to get Nordstrom Visa Card? Do you consider this card as one of the Prime Cards?

Nordstrom is prime as can be, but they hate inquiries!!

I have been turned down twice solely for that reason!!

I am not sure why they dont like inquires. How many inq did you had when you applied for their card? I have 47 inq's on my EX in the last 24 months. How would they treat them?

I would thing they would treat them with extra-long tongs, insulated gloves, and a haz-mat suit!

I wish we had a Nordstrom store around here. The closest one is Atlanta, a good 3 1/2 hours away. We don't even have a Macy's here. Since I shop retail once a year, I'd be happy to do so at Nordie's.

Not sure I can answer the OP question, but I got the Nordstrom Platinum Visa card lately on 730 scores with a 3 year history (no negatives). I had 2-3 other inquiries.

However, I'd like to put in a good word for this card. I called a month ago to ask them to lower my rate (something worth doing a couple times a year). Nordies lowered the rate from 12%; to PRIME. That's 6% now. This is the lowest long term rate I've ever heard of for a credit card, let alone a rewards card.

Then I called the other day to ask about a CLI. They tripled my credit limit (3K to 9K, balance at the time was 1K but I'd always PIF before). That was more than double my highest limit at the time (4K on Citi).

One thing you might not have thought about is that this card doesn't allow balance transfers. However, for a low APR rewards card, it's great.

I always do PIF. What I am looking for is a prime card that is alternative to Citi/BOA/Amex. From what I hear Nordstrom card is very good in customer service.

Nordstom card is underwritten by Nordstrom bank, so yes, it's not Citi/BOA/Amex at all.

You asked earlier about whether to apply for the Visa or just the store card. When I applied, it was a general application; they just gave me the best card they could. So I don't think you'll need to make that decision.

If you really do have 47 hard inquiries, I would suggest waiting a year until those drop off. If they're soft inquiries, then you're okay.

I have to really work on getting some of the baddies removed on my EQ/EX. They are killing my score. I applied for the Nordstorm Card last night hoping at least I would get a store card. They pulled my EQ which is worst of all 3 at Fico 659. I have only 3 inquiries. Got the message, it is being processed. Oh well I would get a decline letter in the mail in the next few days. I really dont need the card any way. I guess my fingers were itchy to apply. It is time to really get back to basics and cleanup my baddes from EQ/EX.

I've had the Nordstrom store card since Oct'07..... I was in the sotre yesterday and they asked if I wanted to upgrade my card.... I said we could try it (as that was my goal eventually).... I was approved for the upgrade...took about 2 mins... Now if I can get the APR reduced and the credit line increased I'll be in great shape... Great store, great customer service... I'd highly recommend them... :-)

They always pull EQ and it seems lately that they often pull EX in addition.

My Addison Avenue is Prime plus 1.99% and the rate, and my APR is 5.24%. So I don't thing you got prime.

you are replying to a msg from april of last year when the prime rate was not the same as today.
