World MC with CL < 5000

Hi all, I just got approved for a Huntington Voice credit card with an initial CL of 2500. I thought Visa Signature or World MC must have minimum CL of 5,000. However, the card I received has World on it, and the benefit guide specifies that this is a World Mastercard. Has anyone had similar experience with MC before?

I have a Citi AAdvantage Gold MC, and it was approved for $2k last month. It started to report on CRAs as "flexible spending credit card" with $2k limit showing.

+1 Ive seen that CITI tends to give CLs <5000 and are still wither WMC or VISA Signatures. Congrats on the approval that cards is very worth it.

What I understand is that for VISA Signature, there is a set amount. And, people started to say the qualification for the World MC is > $5k because these 2 are similar in terms of added benefits.

I could be wrong here but but that might be World Elite MC that starts you at $5k > and not World MC?

I have a Citi Expedia World MC with a 4k CL. It is the no fee version too.

Maybe each bank is different in regards to WMC? A recent member posted an approval for a Barclays Platinum, the app was to aim for the WMC but instead received the Platinum edition. The CL was $1,600.

Yeah looks like CITI allows for WMC with less tha $5K.

I think $5000 is more a general rule of thumb. My father who's retired has pristine credit 800+ FICOs and was approved for Chase Amazon Visa Signature with only $500 limit. I suspect this is due to him reporting very low income.

Nice! Maybe it depends on financial institutions and what cards. On my recent upgrade of Freedom VISA -> Freedom VISA Sig, the CSR said the min CL must be $5k.

In reviewing some of the terms & conditions for Citi Bank Cards, I noticed that the World Mastercard states that they could be approved for CL's as low as $2,000. Yet, in reviewing their Visa Signatures they stated their cards may come with a CL as low as $5,000. Assume this is what is out there. Now since you cannot app for a WEMC directly who knows the CL requirements. I did see a poster who obtained one through a p/c with a much lower CL.

Regarding Citi and WEMC products there really is no so called "CL requirement" Case in point, i received mine with an initial CL 3.6K. Their decision is based on many factors, of which is not made available to the general public, when they grant upgrades to WEMC.

Am I reading it right? You sock drawered your Citi Dividend World Elite Mastercard? I have one and am pleased to have p/c'd to it. There are cards with all sorts of benefits that are out of sight. But for a no AF with a no-preset spending not to bad.

yup, my card in sleeping in my sock drawer, until citi make some suitable upgrades to the rewards program and how rewards can be redeemed!

+1 My Citi Dividend WEMC is sock drawered also actually that is not entirely true because it does have the EMV chip so it is such a nice looking card that I keep it in my wallet but never use it.

I guess the only good benefit is the quarterly 5% the only problem is that it never seems to have categories that I like. Except Q4. I might run close to my yearly limit on it.

So it appears World/World Elite Mastercard and Visa Signature has lost any little prestige they had left. These are supposed to be the top cards in the United States and they just let banks throw them at anyone. 5000 is really not that high and they should really raise it to 25,000 or something that requires a lot more to be worthy of.
